Kate for Kembla Grange glory

The fourth race at Kembla Grange is a 1200m Class 1 handicap expected to take place on a soft 7 track.

Top weight Runwiththetide is expected to prove popular with punter,s having performed well at metro level earlier this season.

The gelding registered placed efforts at both Rosehill and Randwick earlier in the campaign, including when a close second over 1400m at the second named venue at the end of December.

Ross McConville's gelding was spelled following that effort, which came in a Benchmark 72 handicap, however he failed to shine at Rosehill last month on his only subsequent start.

The three-year-old was dropped to 1100m when beaten five lengths into seventh that day and, while improvement is expected, it can pay to look elsewhere for the winner.

MONTE KATE is preferred here, having registered some good efforts at this venue this prep.

Those efforts include a narrow defeat when racing from the front in a similar race to this over course and distance on 18th May.

The filly raced on a heavy 9 track that day but is versatile going wise having placed three times on good going this prep, including on a good 3 over 1300m here in January.

The daughter of I Am Invincible had broken her maiden on a heavy 10 surface over 1000m here prior to that.

The selection is a versatile type with regard to tactics, having performed well when racing close to the speed as well as from mid-division.

Jockey Tommy Berry takes the ride here, having ridden the pick twice in races in the past, including when fourth over this distance at Newcastle in March and the pair can take this contest.

Exotic for Armidale success

The finale at Armidale is a Benchmark 58 handicap due to be held over 1100m on a soft 6 surface.

Tryanza has won twice and placed second twice from his four previous starts and he is expected to feature prominently in the market.

Trained by David Campbell, he delivered a course and distance success when getting home by a length on a soft 5 track in an 1100m Class 1 handicap last month.

The three-year-old went on to place second when narrowly beaten in a Class 2 handicap over the same distance at Toowoomba earlier this month.

Mitch Stapleford's mount meets the unbeaten SHE'S EXOTIC here and she is preferred on this occasion.

The filly made the perfect start to her career when debuting with a two-length victory in a 1000m maiden at Gunnedah in early December.

The pick was spelled following that effort and she returned with an impressive three length triumph in a Benchmark 58 handicap held over the same distance at Tamworth just over a month ago.

Both of those efforts came on wet tracks and she should be suited by the soft 6 track expected for this event.

While Cody Morgan's filly has to jump from a wide barrier here, she performed well when ridden from off the pace on debut and similar tactics look likely in this event.

Jockey Shae Wilkes' three-kilogram claim is a positive here and her mount looks capable of maintaining her unbeaten record.

Lad to break maiden

The third at Ballarat is an interesting 1400m three-year-old only maiden with PEERLESS LAD taking the eye in this contest.

The gelding has placed third in two of his three starts this prep, including when beaten a length over 1200m when racing from off the pace at Warracknabeal first up.

Trained by Ciaron Maher, the youngster failed to shine at Bendigo subsequently, however he returned to form under more positive tactics when third on the turf course here on 12th May.

The selection lost out by just over three lengths that day and the application of blinkers should sharpen him up.

John Allen, on board here last time, is again set to ride and with a good barrier five off the rail he looks capable of steering his mount to victory.
