TYE ANGLAND
Tye Angland had not ridden a horse until starting his apprenticeship at Hawkesbury in 2005.
Angland showed good ability early on in his career and took out the 2007/08 apprentice jockey premiership with 127 winners, third behind only Darren Beadman and Zac Purton for most winners in a season for an apprentice in NSW.
Tye Angland's first Group 1 success came aboard Black Piranha in the 2009 Stradbroke Handicap and following his win on Alverta in the 2010 Coolmore Classic, took up a riding contract in Hong Kong.
Riding in Hong Kong for four years, Tye Angland's best season came in 2013/14 when fourth in the Hong Kong jockeys premiership.
Angland was left a quadriplegic following a Hong Kong race fall in November 2018.
Following the fall, Angland has remained in the industry as a jockey manager and launched the Team Tye Foundation, a charity with the aim of assisting people in racing who are dealing with serious injury or hardship.
