Randwick: Race 10; #7 Golden Straand 
Competitive race with what looks a tricky speed map for some. GOLDEN STRAAND is well in the market after two recent wins in a row including breaking a track record. But he drew low barriers in both of those wins and now has to deal with a very wide barrier which could make his run a lot tougher. While he is flying, the worry is this race may not be run to suit so I can slide him out in the market from where he is currently.
Flemington: Race 6; #1 Beiwacht
How on earth do you try and assess Beiwacht here? If he brings his Golden Rose winning rating then it would take a mighty improvement from either Tentyris or Beadman to get anywhere near him but that rating stands on an island. On it's own and the freshen-up back to 1200m in theory, shouldn't be a set-up where he goes back to that big peak. Tentyris is screaming back me here, he loomed to win and blew up first-up and much like second-up last preparation, he improved out of sight, pulling a win from the jaws of defeat. Beadman was another who underwhelmed first-up then improved sharply second-up, just without the (1) next to his name in the form book. Both come in breathing fire if Beiwacht is off his peak, which is surely more likely than less.
Flemington: Race 8; #2 Fangirl
Pride Of Jenni in the race likely means the race becomes a genuine test where the backmarkers are chasing from a long way out which doesn't suit Fangirl. Most of her best form is for James McDonald who isn't riding her today.
Flemington: Race 9; #2 Arabian Summer
Can't quite work out how #2 ARABIAN SUMMER is favourite. Especially against a horse who was close to competing in an Everest. #2 ARABIAN SUMMER ran well at 1000m here but that was at start two. Good last start but a bunch finish and she probably needs another win now. Beaten by STRETAN ANGEL, SHE'S BULLETPROOF in a William Reid and meets them both much worst at the weights.
