ROSEHILL November 9

Best Bets

RACE 1 (7) MONTE SUPREME: Not much has gone the way of this mare since resuming. Anchored by a big weight when she had a tough run second up at Hawkesbury then never got the galloping room she needed when making ground strongly from the rear in this class over 1200m at Randwick. Went to the line untested last time and is certain to appreciate this extra 100m from a better gate.

RACE 5 (4) UNIQUE AMBITION: Jumped sharply in class and distance from an impressive first-up win over 1300m at this course when a creditable fifth in the G3 Angst Stakes (1600m) at Randwick when she was left in front too soon. Well placed back to her right class over a trip she will appreciate.

RACE 9 (6) FIRE STAR: Aiming to make it three on the bounce after impressive Warwick Farm wins over 1100m and 1200m where he has shown excellent tactical speed and strength through the line to win by dominant margins. Handled this class well last time under 56kg and loses nothing with the riding switch to Tommy Berry.

Why They Can Win….

RACE 2: (1) CONFESS OUR DREAMS – Used her natural pace to advantage last time. Hard to run down again with 2kg less.

RACE 3: (4) ZELGARIA – Finding the line for apprentices in fast run races up north. Stable knows when it's time to strike in this company.

RACE 4: (4) ROARING ENGINE – Rates well off his Melbourne form. Has good credentials over this distance.

RACE 6: (2) NORTH ENGLAND – Impressive trial since he was caught in last bound on debut. That experience is a big asset.

RACE 7: (1) BELCLARE – Too quick for them at Randwick. No reason she can't do it again under similar conditions.

RACE 8: (11) TERRITORY EXPRESS – Impressive prep runs where slow starts have cost him dearly. Can win if things go right.

RACE 10: (3) FRENCH ENDEAVOUR – This mare is flying. Group performer well placed with the allowance.

TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK November 1: Lovely piece of work from the 2YO filly O' OLE in her first trial since her debut second in the Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick. Eased back under a hold from a wide gate and worked into it easily from the 300m, peeling to the outside and easily picking up the leaders for a soft win in her 850m heat (50.15; 33.64).

WARWICK FARM October 29: REGIMENTAL COLOURS has featured in Trial Watch several times with this being the third trial win since May by the unraced All Too Hard filly. She's well educated and showed her natural speed to lead comfortably and extend under no pressure for a soft win, running fast time in her 792m heat (45.56; 32.75). Time for her to go to the races. Other smart maiden heat winners included KING OF DRAGONS and LONGCROSS. I like the form in the 2YO trials. Trapeze Artist filly TUPAKARA showed good potential with her debut fourth in the Gimcrack Stakes and was faultless cruising to an easy win the fillies heat over 795m (46.90; 33.33). In the colts heat over 792m (46.86; 33.41) WEST OF SWINDON, by boom international sire Wootton Basset, showed natural talent running strongly on pace. In a top stable and ready for a bold debut.

HAWKESBURY October 28: Farnan colt NORTH ENGLAND was an early trial star before finishing third in the Breeders Plate on debut. Showed the benefit of that race experience to win his 800m heat in easily the fastest time of the session (45.84; 33.35). Sure to be fancied when next produced. James Cummings won four maiden heats. With AFLOAT, an unraced gelding by Astern, the one that made the best impression in the 1000m heats posting faster time (59.79; 34.19) than stablemate HEAVENFIELD (60.33; 34.23).

RANDWICK October 22: The free running MANUSCRIPT won the fastest 742m heat (43.21; 32.70), quicker than the Spirit Of Boom colt EXTRACTOR (44.43; 33.83) in the colts 2YO heat.

WARWICK FARM October 15: KING OF DRAGONS was tabbed when he won a trial last season before one start in June. Again showed he has talent by leading comfortably in his 789m heat,  never coming under pressure to record an easy 2.2 lengths win in the fastest time of the session (45.98; 33.51). Price/Kent youngsters dominated the two juvenile heats over 792m with the I Am Invincible x Snitzerland filly CHISHOLM running the faster time (46.49; 33.34).

ROSEHILL May 24: Bjorn Baker won a 2YO heat over 900m with first time runner REGIMENTAL COLOURS (55.35; 35.48). She is a racy filly by All Too Hard with plenty of natural pace.
