Daughter of Written Tycoon becomes second most expensive filly sold on Inglis Digital.
Kiwi Group 1 winner Velocious this week became Inglis Digital's second most expensive filly after being sold for $1,625,000.
Only Funstar, who sold for $2.7m in 2021, has realised a bigger price tag via the online platform than the three-year-old daughter of Written Tycoon, who was bought by Yulong.
That Yuesheng Zhang-led operation also owns Velocious's dam Parmalove and Yulong's chief operating officer Sam Fairgray said it was great to stock up on the family.
"Mr Zhang has followed her for a few months now to see what was happening with her and when she finally came onto the market he was very keen to explore those options,'' Yulong's chief operating officer Sam Fairgray said.
"I think she'll likely visit More Than Looks. It appears to be a really nice mating there.
"Velocious was a high-class two-year-old, we own the mare and she's carrying a full sibling to her now so it's great to have Velocious joining the farm as well.''
Velocious, who was trained by Stephen Marsh and carried the Go Racing colours, won six of 13 starts, including the Karaka Millions and Group 1 Sistema Stakes in back-to-back starts as a two-year-old.
"It's just fantastic, we're really rapt and really grateful for all the work Inglis has done to help us get this result,'' Bosma said.
"When you get fillies of her value there's really only a small amount of potential suitors but we were thrilled with the interest.
"I thought the marketing on her was very good, she got put in front of all the buyers that were prospective buyers realistically and I really felt that was done superbly," Go Racing's Albert Bosma said.
Other highlight lots of the final Inglis Digital sale of the 2024/25 season were Magnus mare Comica, who was sold in-foal to Ole Kirk for $220,000, Redoute's Choice mare Invisible Coin ($215,000), who is in-foal to Anamoe, and $200,000 buy Royal Mule, who is in-foal to Exceedance.
