The first foal of one of Australasia's most successful Group 1 performers will have her first start at Moonee Valley this Friday night.

Lyrics 'N' Song is the daughter of the former Kiwi star Melody Belle, who ended her career with 14 Group 1 wins to her name.

The first of them was in the NZ Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) as a two-year-old and the last in the Bonecrusher Stakes (2000m) at six.

That was the second of two Bonecrusher Stakes wins, having also claimed that event in 2019, while she also won the Tarzino Trophy (1400m) and Livamol Classic (2040m) twice and recorded a hat-trick of wins in the Windsor Park Plate (1600m).

Melody Belle's lone Australian Group 1 success in the Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) at the 2019 Derby Day program.

The daughter of Commands was offered for sale by Te Akau Racing after the last of her 41 starts and was bought by Yulong Investments for $2.6 million at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Yulong offered Lyrics 'N' Song at last year's Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, but retained her to race after she failed to reach her $700,000 reserve.

Te Akau Racing's head trainer Mark Walker has been entrusting to train Lyrics 'N' Song and has given the filly three trials or jumpouts, the first in June before another two last month.

She finished third in the first of those September hitouts, which was over 800m, before comfortably winning a 1000m hitout on September 22.

Michael Dee was aboard for the last of those jumpouts and will partner Lyrics 'N' Song at her 1200m debut, where she has drawn the inside alley in a field of nine and is challenging for favouritism.

Melody Belle also visited Written Tycoon in her second season at stud, but slipped the year after having Lyrics 'N' Song.

Her second live foal is a filly by Diatonic and last month she foaled a third filly, by I Am Invincible.
