Bevan and Richard Laming landed the most prized product of Australia's first ready-to-run sale of the year, going to $550,000 for a son of champion stallion I Am Invincible.

The father-son combination outbid local trainer Paul Shailer to secure the Baramul Stud-bred colt at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Horses in Training Sale.

The two-year-old, who ran 10.52 seconds at the breeze-up session, is the first foal of an unraced Snitzel sister to multiple Group 1-winning sire Russian Revolution and half-sister to the dam of Home Affairs.

"He had a great pedigree, he's a beautiful individual," Richard Laming said.

"He's got a stallion's pedigree to go with it. You've probably got to pay a bit more than you'd expect - but you've got to buy the ones you want.

"We've got on the front foot and already sold quite a bit of him. There's still a little bit left as you'd expect. A horse like him will sell himself.

"I looked at his breeze-up and then as an individual you'd think he would get up and go."

The I Am Invincible colt was the top lot of a sale that saw 94 lots change hands, which resulted in a gross of just under $7 million at an average of $73,351 with a 68 percent clearance rate.

The second top-seller was the Wootton Bassett-Bit of Cheek colt, a half-brother to Stakes winner Blondeau who breezed-up in 11.65secs and sold to Wayne Ormond for $400,000.

Magic Millions China representative Amy Feng was active, paying $360,000 for a colt by Snitzel from Diademe who sold for $360,000 and $300,000 for a colt by Written Tycoon out of True Moonlight.

"It was a pretty solid day's trade today," Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said.

"There was a very diverse buying bench with buyers from all across Asia - Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Malaysia and many other places.

"It was a good, deep, diverse buying market that complemented what we had here locally. Queenslanders stepped in - New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia all participated.

"From an interstate perspective it was a strong sale and it gives us something to build upon for this sale into the future."

With the Magic Millions Horses In Training Sale now done, attention turns to Inglis' Ready 2 Race Sale, which will be held in Sydney on Thursday.
