Lancelot Du Lac never got the chance to continue a family tradition and contest a Golden Slipper, but he finally gets to the races this Friday.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained colt will make his debut in the $60,000 Precise Air Handicap (1300m) that kicks off the twilight Randwick Kensington card.

The three-year-old son of Flying Artie is the fourth foal from Fastnet Rock mare Miss Debutante, whose third foal was Lady Of Camelot, winner of last year's Golden Slipper.

Lady Of Camelot was the third daughter of Miss Debutante to run in the Golden Slipper, following I Am Invincible filly Queen Of The Ball, who finished eighth in 2022, and Platinum Jubilee, a daughter of Zoustar, who was 12th the following year.

Lancelot Du Lac is a homebred for Sir Owen Glenn and will sport his yellow and white colours that were carried to Slipper victory by Lady Of Camelot.

He trialled twice late last year, including a win over 850m, but was put away and returned for an autumn campaign that saw three trials across April, May and June.

He has again had three trials this campaign, starting with a fourth over 798m at Warwick Farm on October 17 followed by third placings at Randwick (1045m) and Warwick Farm (787m) on November 7 and 25 respectively.

Lancelot Du Lac is an $8.50 chance in betting on Friday's event, favourite for which is the Chris Waller-trained Ichiban Koji ($3.90), and will start from the inside alley with Adam Hyeronimus aboard.
