The catalogue has been released for Victoria’s major yearling sale of the year
Inglis believes next year's Premier Yearling Sale is well-placed to follow on the success of recent sales following the release of the catalogue on Monday morning.
A total of 806 lots have been brought together for the offering at Inglis's Victorian base at Oaklands Junction from March 1-3.
The 2026 Premier Yearling Sale will follow the same format of recent years with 579 Book 1 yearlings offered on the opening two days and 227 Book 2 yearlings on Day 3.
Extreme Choice, I Am Invincible, Zoustar, Snitzel, Written Tycoon, Wootton Bassett Frankel and Kingman are among 110 stallions represented, 11 of whom have not had yearlings offered previously.
Headlining that list is Street Boss' nine-time Group 1 winner Anamoe, who stood for a whopping $121,000 (inc GST) in his first season at stud and has 11 lots in the book.
"I feel the standard of yearlings catalogued for the sale for 2026 is higher than at any time I can remember and I know my colleagues feel the sale,'' Inglis' Victorian bloodstock manager James Price said.
"The quality of the pedigrees, in terms of both stallion power and female families, reads exceptionally well.
"Our expectation was that the strength of the sale in 2025 – noting it was the first Southern Hemisphere sale of 2025 to post improved metrics year on year – would help us to consolidate a stronger catalogue in 2026 and we are confident that is the case.
"Historically the Premier Sale has been a hugely significant producer of superstars with graduates including Black Caviar, Starspangledbanner, Nature Strip, Bella Nipotina, Ole Kirk, Sacred Kingdom, Written By, Booker, September Run, Masked Crusader etc and I'm confident the 2026 catalogue will produce any number of stars as well.
"It is always a fun time to be in one of the world's great cities in Melbourne and we look forward to welcoming our guests for the sale."
Two of last season's Group 1-winning colts Vinrock and Nepotism are Premier graduates, sold for $300,000 and $160,000 respectively, while the past three winners of The Everest offered for sale – Nature Strip, Think About It and Bella Nipotina – also came out of the sale.
Since 2018 there have been 34 Group 1-winning graduates come through Premier, 16 of whom could have been bought for $100,000 or less, while the sale is also responsible for 33 graduates to have earned $1m or more in Australia in that time.
