Trentham Race 1
1 Sweet Taboo

He looked to be jumping well enough at Te Aroha before completely misjudging a fence with a lap to go and losing rider, Joshua Parker. His 2nd placing two starts back over 3900m at Te Rapa is a much better guide for this, where he ran Super Spirit to a short neck. I think a repeat of that effort would win this.

Trentham Race 2
7 Rocabury

Strongly backed in an Amateur rider race last start when finishing a well beaten 7th. His run prior for 2nd on the synthetic was very good. While he makes his jumping debut here, he comes from the right yard to make it a winning one.

Trentham Race 3
1 Semper Magico

He was the subject of a controversial 2nd placing at Hastings back in June. Trainer/Jockey combo have been lethal this season. Expect him to justify the short quote and make amends on Saturday.

Trentham Race 4
1 Nedwin

He was entitled to be beaten a lot further last start on the flat with the run he had in transit. He's a classy hurdler on his day and should be hitting peak fitness for this assignment. Nedwin goes well at Trentham and loves a Heavy track. He has to carry the grandstand; however, his best would be awfully hard to beat.

Trentham Race 5
2 Kahu Rock

He's having his second run for the Fannin/Schofer camp after being caught wide and working first-up for the new stable. Kahu Rock is a tough grinding type who looks well suited to the testing conditions we'll likely see at Trentham on Saturday.

Trentham Race 6
2 Sophmaze

Very difficult race to assess, being a small field with no natural leader engaged. Should she jump cleanly, I thought Sophmaze could be a contender to roll forward under 4kg claimer Rihaan Goyaram. If she was able to dictate her own terms out in front, I thought she would take all sorts of catching with only 54kg on her back.

Trentham Race 7
1 The Cossack

Champion jumper who comes into this off the back of a nice maintenance run at Hastings last weekend. He showed his champion qualities two back in the Waikato Steeplechase when being pressured throughout. Looks set to add another trophy to the mantelpiece.

Trentham Race 8
5 Sinbin
**TIP OF THE DAY**

Very keen to back Sinbin now that she is back in the Central Districts. Simply ran well below her best last start down in the South Island, prior to which she had been very unlucky. Unsure of whether they Heavy10 first-up will be favourable, although she looked to handle it well under Allpress at the Foxton trials earlier this month. I think she is a mare with plenty of upside and if she is ready to go first-up she'll take all sorts of beating.

Trentham Race 9
5 Hacksaw Ridge

Looks the likely leader in the small field. Hacksaw Ridge generally handles the Heavy10 conditions and may have turned a corner going off the bold run for 2nd last start. Happy to be against Blackwood Star who drops back sharply in distance in what should only be a moderately run mile.

Trentham Race 10
3 Miss Dixie

Just rolled along too hard in front last time, where she had her rivals spinning their wheels before eventually folding up in the straight. Two starts back at this course/distance, Miss Dixie was able to lead and hold her rivals at bay. She looks the likely leader here again, if she can set a more sustainable speed in front under Elle Sole she should give a sight at nice each way odds.
