Arawa Park Race 1
1 Ata Rangi

I'm siding with Ata Rangi to open proceedings at Rotorua. He brings the best flat form into this race, as well as a 4L 3rd in his sole hurdling run behind Dictation and Semper Magico. He looks to have the ability to win a Maiden Hurdle at short notice.

Arawa Park Race 2
6 Road Runner

Very low confidence betting race for this Maiden Hurdle, where I've landed on Road Runner for the Kevin Myers stable. His debut effort for 2nd on the flat was respectable, and I'm trusting the stable to have him ready for this hurdle assignment at start number two. Not a strong field, can make his hurdling debut a winning one.

Arawa Park Race 3
1 Helena Baby

He's been extremely impressive in both of his two hurdle starts, winning comfortably on each occasion. Expect to see him lead and dictate from gate one, should be making it 3/3 over the hurdles here.

Arawa Park Race 4
8 Invisible Spirit

He has been very good this campaign, being beaten by only Nedwin and Helena Baby in his past two starts. Now in a Maiden Steeplechase, you'd have to think only bad luck beats him with his hurdling form. Should prove very hard to beat.

Arawa Park Race 5
4 Raucous

Tricky race to assess, where Kevin Myers has all the leading chances in the market, two of which have been well travelled down to Riccarton of late. Raucous hasn't been at his best of late, which is why you're getting double figures about him winning this race. If he can find something close to his best form, he's as good of a chance as any in what is an open race.

Arawa Park Race 6
8 Wannabe 'N' Vegas

Low confidence betting race given it is an Amateur Riders contest. Scotty Phelan riding for Kevin Myers is typically a big tick in these races. Her last start run for 4th was much closer to what she is capable of. Looks a leading chance in an open race.

Arawa Park Race 7
6 Raajoices

Although he hasn't been firing well of late, I thought Raajoices profiles well for this race. He gets in with only 64kg on his back, which is considerably less than his main rivals in the market. His better form in the north on the flat would be hard to beat, just needs to find it.

Arawa Park Race 8
2 Dembe
Tip of The Day

This is a very weak field, where Dembe should be winning with a repeat effort of his last start 2nd. He'll likely get back near enough to last from the wide draw (10) and looking to blend into the race late, where riders will likely be steering a path to the outside fence. Should be hard to beat if he runs up to his recent form.

Arawa Park Race 9
3 On Shaw

Massive effort to run 3rd on debut at New Plymouth, where he was wide and working throughout and was still strong through the line. The step up to 1400m also looks suitable. The main query I have is around his fitness with the gap between runs, as this track could be very trying come the last race.
