New Plymouth Race 1
1 Tisse

Tisse looks the horse to beat in what is a very competitive race to kick off proceedings. He handles Heavy tracks and Triston Moodley jumps back aboard after winning on him two starts back. May need some luck from the wide gate (13), can win if he gets it.

New Plymouth Race 2
4 Diamond Jak

Diamond Jak has been one of the finds this season through the winter and he looks very well placed to win again. Due to the engagement of Justaskme, Diamond Jak gets into this only carrying the minimum (54kg). Hopefully Jasmine Fawcett rides him in similar positive fashion to last start, as this race looks devoid of any speed.

New Plymouth Race 3
3 Highgrass

Highgrass is on the quick back-up here, having only raced last Saturday in stronger company at Hastings. Recent racing should have her in peak shape to cope with the testing conditions that could be presented on Saturday. Expect Liam Kauri to utilize her speed from the low draw (2) over the 990m and task the others with running her down.

New Plymouth Race 4
7 Debit

Very speed mare who has clearly had her issues given she's only had the two career starts to date, with the last of those being 15 months ago. Debit has had two strong hitouts at the trials leading into her resumption, both of which she won in the fastest time of the day. Expect her to jump and run and give a sight over the 990m here.

New Plymouth Race 5
7 Hi Yo Sass Bomb

Hi Yo Sass Bomb was simply outstanding when winning first-up on a Heavy10 track at Whanganui. The step up to 1400m should only suit and she'll likely find herself on similar footing at New Plymouth this Saturday. Can go back-to-back here.

New Plymouth Race 6
2 Outer Focus

I was with Outer Focus last start and he was a well beaten 2nd placing here over 1600m which was one of the more testing Heavy10 tracks you'll see. He now drops back to 1400m and should hopefully be racing on a slightly better surface than last start. Looks a winnable race for him.

New Plymouth Race 7
7 Amarillo Slim

Amarillo Slim was an emphatic last start winner over 2000m at Matamata. While he is an enigmatic type, a repeat effort of his last start win would see him awfully hard to beat in this. The question marks obviously being whether he does repeat that effort, and whether he can over 3210m. Looks the each way play at the price in what is an open race.

New Plymouth Race 8
7 Asgard
Tip of The Day

7 Asgard: Asgard is a lightly tried 5yo who looks to have any amount of ability on his day. His first-up demolition job at Te Rapa rated well enough to suggest a repeat effort of that would be hard to beat here also. He's a big strong type who can handle Heavy conditions and can do work in his races. Hard to beat.
