Hawera Race 1
8 Si Exquis

Si Exquis was a huge run at Matamata first-up, where she was wide and working throughout and proceeded to lug out on the bend before balancing up and finishing strongly through the line. Key gear change second-up with the lugging bit replacing the standard bit, which should aid Kelly Myers in steering Si Exquis. I expect she will land midfield with cover from the low draw (4), as long as the track isn't playing too "up and in" I expect she can finish over the top of these.

Hawera Race 2
4 Tutin Cans

Tutin Cans isn't the worst at longer odds, in what looks a very open race on paper. Although he has proved to be somewhat on an enigma over his career, his recent runs suggest he's ticking along well if you exclude the last start flop on a testing track. Should get a much more suitable surface to work with here, as well as a nice run in transit from the low draw (4). Happy to speculate on him at the price.

Hawera Race 3
1 He's Lucid
Tip of The Day

He's Lucid looks to have plenty of ability, having placed at Listed level twice in his short career to date. While I have concerns about him getting back from the wide draw on a firmer track, he may just be too good. Hoping they push forward and ride him like the best horse. Should be winning if they do.

Hawera Race 4
3 Think I Got Cha

Think I Got Cha is resuming here having been last seen at the races in March. He's had a nice hit-out at the trials to prepare him for this first-up assignment. His maiden form in the north reads well for this. Happy to be with him on an each way basis in an open race.

Hawera Race 5
10 Debit

They've taken their time getting Debit back to the races given she's posted trial wins in May, July & September. While her emphatic maiden win and latest trial wins have all been on Heavy tracks, I think she will go just as well on top of the ground. Drawn to jump and run from the inside gate. Will take some beating if she finds the front.

Hawera Race 6
3 Canheroc

Canheroc looks well over the odds here for mine. His last start run at Ellerslie behind the likes of Nest Egg and Nereus was excellent. Many of Canheroc's rivals won't be as suited to the firmer conditions as he will be, with many of these also coming off recent Heavy track racing. He will be on a path to the NZ Cup in November and looks to be building nicely this campaign. Very happy to be with him on an each way basis here.

Hawera Race 7
10 You Say D'Orsay

You Say D'Orsay has been good in his two runs back from a spell without receiving all favours. He possesses very good early speed, which I think could see him cross this field from the wide gate (11).

Hawera Race 8
6 The Hottie

The Hottie resumes in this having last been sighted in April. While she has clearly had her issues she simply oozes quality. She's had a trial earlier this week which should have her ready to go for this first-up assignment. She maps to get a nice run just off a strong tempo set by the likes of Wessex and Town Cryer. Classy type on her day, market could be the best guide to her chances come raceday.

Hawera Race 9
5 Loch In Ora

Loch In Ora is a 5yo mare with plenty of upside who has been unsighted since winning back in March. While she will likely improve with the run and be better over slightly further, I thought she may still prove too sharp for these on a firmer deck.
