Awapuni Race 1
6 Debbi Harri
Just a small field of fillies and mares engaged for this. Debbi Harri resumes here and she comes out of some very strong form races from her 2yo season.
Although she hasn't had any public trials leading in, she has won four jump outs at Hastings across July, August and September.
Speedy type who can run a race first-up.
Awapuni Race 2
3 French Doll
French Doll raced on speed and fought on strongly at this course/distance last start.
While there does look to be plenty of speed drawn underneath her, it may give Jim Chung the option to snag behind the leaders if they're going hard early.
Awapuni Race 3
1 Detrimental
Detrimental is an I Am Invincible colt who was strongly supported on debut and ran well without much luck in running.
He's placed on two occasions at the jumpouts in September which should have him ready to go for this first-up assignment.
Awapuni Race 4
7 Miss Balvenie
Miss Balvenie is an ex-Australian having her first start for Peter Lock in NZ. She trialled up really well on the Cambridge Synthetic, running on by subsequent race winner, Miss Rockette.
She maps to settle back off what should be a very strongly run 1000m with Swazi and Showbastian Coe engaged.
Her Australian figures earlier in her career suggests that she typically runs well fresh, wouldn't be surprised to see her go close in this.
Awapuni Race 5
1 Sailor Jack
Tip of The Day
Sailor Jack was luckless first-up at this course/distance, where he only got into clear air with 50m to go and the race was all over. He's won a trial since in good fashion, the blinkers go on and a senior jockey takes the reins.
Historically, Sailor Jack's second-up figures have rated significantly higher than his first-up runs also. Very keen to be with him here. Best Bet.
Awapuni Race 6
8 Off To The Nunnery
Tricky race to assess for mine, with potentially a few looking to find the front from wider barriers.
Off To The Nunnery looks to be one who won't have to work all that hard from the inside gate, where she maps to trail or be three-back at worst. Her last start run for 3rd was the only glimpse of form she has shown since joining Lydia Pickford's stable.
Happy to play her each way at the price in what is an open race.
Awapuni Race 7
5 Hasbulla
Hasbulla made up stacks of ground in her resuming run here over 1200m. She now steps up to 1400m second-up and is drawn to settle much closer to the speed.
Toni Davies 3kg claim sees her get in with only 53.5kg on her back for this. She looks a very good each way play at the price.
