Race 1
1 Hidalgo
Hidalgo has been running okay of late without running up to his best form. While you could argue he has been a victim of circumstances lately, he's not been ridden with the same level of positive intent which had seen him perform better in the past when able to dictate from the front or outside leader. He now gets a senior rider in Terry Moseley jumping aboard and really maps to lead this race as he likes. If he finds the lead here, I think he can recapture some of his better previous form.
Race 2
Pomalo is a 32-start maiden who looks to find a winnable maiden contest here. From the low draw (4), she looks to get a good run through early tracking the likely leader, Ice Cold Gold. The Heavy track won't concern her either, happy to be with her on an each way basis.
Race 3
The Cool One's debut was one to forget, where she bombed the start and got back in a race that nothing made any ground from the back half of the field. The blinkers now go on for her second career start and an improved showing wouldn't surprise.
Race 4
Radiant Reach resumes here having last been sighted finishing down the track at this course/distance back in May. She typically goes well first-up and goes well on Heavy tracks, outside of her last two runs on mid-winter Heavy10's. Looks the one they have to beat.
Race 5
Tralee Bay proved very costly last start when slowly away again and only battled to the line after. He's now drawn one here, and the prospect of a wetter track than what he struck last start should only bring him further into contention.
Race 6
Gentle Ben ran very well first-up at a distance short of his best. Expect to see him get back from the middle draw (5), where the small field shouldn't see him settling too far off the leaders. Looks the one to beat with natural improvement from his resuming effort.
