Trentham Race 1
1 Towrope

Very open race to kick off the card at Trentham. Towrope is the runner who is welcoming a Heavy track more than most in this field. The only blips in his form of late are when he has been on firmer tracks, which he won't be striking here. Harry Grace taking the steer from a middle barrier (8) should see him get every chance.

Trentham Race 2
2 Dictation

Another open and tricky race to assess here, and the fact I've sided with a hurdler in the form of Dictation is a testament to that. The key to Dictation's chances will be how testing and grueling this Heavy track is on Saturday, as if it is still feeling the after-effects of Sunday's meeting it could be right up Dictation's alley. He'll still have plenty of residual fitness from the jumping season and he finds the right race on the flat to play a part.

Trentham Race 3
2 Winston

Winston was first-up for two years when running 6th at New Plymouth, that run was a pass mark on firmer conditions than he would've liked. He now gets on to his preferred Heavy footing second-up and he would have taken a stack of improvement from his resuming run. He carries 56.5kg after Elle Sole's claim. Anything close to his best form would be hard to beat.

Trentham Race 4
2 Fancypants
Tip of The Day

Fancypants had been excellent before heading north and tackling stronger races than this, where he looked to have excuses on both occasions. Now back in the Central Districts, he looks well placed with only 52.5kg on his back after Sima Mxothwa's claim. Heavy tracks don't look to bother him. Looks a good chance to bounce back here.

Trentham Race 5
9 Koro's Princess

I think Koro's Princess is a great each way bet in what looks an open race on paper. She has plenty of recent racing under her belt, which should aid her in handling what could be a testing track on Saturday. She carries just 51kg after Donovan Cooper's claim, which is another tick in her favour here.

Trentham Race 6
2 Fonteyn

I thought the favourites were all fairly well found in this race, therefore I landed on Fonteyn at a price. She fought on well last start at Taupo despite doing work in the run and dragging the field up to a tearaway leader. She is rock hard fit and getting on to a testing Heavy track shouldn't pose an issue. Happy to have a small speculative play on her at the price.

Trentham Race 7
6 Donnybrook

Donnybrook has been running well of late despite being on less preferred firmer footing. He now gets back on to a Heavy track here which will be right up his alley. His figures this preperation on Heavy tracks have been very good, which should see him thereabouts here with a repeat of any of his runs through the winter.

Trentham Race 8
10 Bozo

Keen to be with Bozo in the last who is down in the weights for this, with a further 1kg coming off due to Lily Sutherland's claim. She comes into this off an okay run for 3rd at Waverley, which should have her at or near her peak fitness with only a two week gap between runs. If she can find anything close to her best form, she would be very hard to beat here.
