New Plymouth Race 1
6 Jamaica Farewell

I've found Jamaica Farewell on top here by default. This is far from a strong maiden 2000m field and Jamaica Farewell has shown a lot more than many of these. She's now 4th up and stepping up to 2000m, looks the one they have to beat in a moderate race.

New Plymouth Race 2
7 Mapalicious

Mapalicious resumes here without a trial. She showed very good ability without winning last preparation in races that are stronger than what she looks to meet here. Joe Doyle takes the reins from a middle barrier (7), looks like she'll have every chance to win this if she's forward enough for it.

New Plymouth Race 3
2 Stewart

Stewart was strongly backed last start and ran well behind a smart type in Kalledu Thunder. From the wide gate (9), I'm hoping Ryan Elliot will be positive early as there doesn't look to be much tempo in this race. If he can get across and sit outside Merchant Banker early, I think he will be hard to beat in this.

New Plymouth Race 4
2 Street Gossip

Street Gossip was better than it looked last start, where she found the line quite well despite the rider dropping the whip at the top of the straight. The blinkers now come off 4th up, which could well be a positive gear change given how she went without them first-up. Anything close to her better form would be hard to beat here.

New Plymouth Race 5
7 Bak Da Angel

Bak Da Angel was massive in defeat last start, she was practically three-wide the entirety of the race and never shirked the task. She's almost got a replica of the setup she had last start with a much better gate to work with here. With even luck in running she should be going close in this.

New Plymouth Race 6
6 Privy Garden

Privy Garden won in very fine fashion last start over the mile at this track in October. She maps to get a great run here from the inside gate, trailing the likely leader Shez Shamus. The way she got home at the end of 1600m last start would suggest the 1800m should suit. I wouldn't be surprised to see her go on with it now after breaking her maiden last start.

New Plymouth Race 7
3 The Nomad

The Nomad ran a very good race for 4th on debut, sticking to his guns well despite being involved in the strong early tempo that was set. From the middle draw (7), he maps to get a great trailing run behind Linkin Park and Justify That, who I expect will go forward on his outer and inner respectively. With natural improvement from his debut effort, I think The Nomad can give a great sight in this.
