Te Aroha Race 1
6 By Her Rules
By Her Rules was very good over 1200m here last start, where she wasn't in clear air until the final 50m of the race. Michael McNab now jumps aboard from a low gate (4), which should see her settle handier to the speed than last start. With even luck in running she should be thereabouts.
Te Aroha Race 2
8 Litteral
Litteral was well supported on debut in a much stronger race than the maiden field she meets here. While she only beat one home on debut, she was only 3.6L off the winner and her closing sectionals were respectable given she was very wayward down the straight. I think she'll be much improved for that experience and can be finishing over the top of these late in a race that looks to have a very strong tempo on paper.
Te Aroha Race 3
6 Celestial Wonder
Celestial Wonder ran well on debut here over 1200m and was possibly not as suited as others to the Heavy8 surface that day. Now back on what should be a firmer track, she looks a good chance of breaking through. She has the benefit of a raceday experience which many of these haven't had, looks a good chance of getting that maiden win here.
Te Aroha Race 4
3 Mad Max
Mad Max has been strongly backed in each start since returning from Australia, although he hasn't yet been able to place, let alone win. I thought he trialled up nicely for this resuming run and while he is drawn wide (18), this is a moderate maiden field well within his reach.
Te Aroha Race 5
2 The Storyteller
Tip of The Day
The Storyteller drops in grade for this despite running very well in R65 company at Tauranga last start. The step up to 2200m 4th up should be right up his alley, going off how he got home at the end of 2100m last start. He'll settle midfield from the middle draw (4) and looks to get every chance to be winning this.
Te Aroha Race 6
5 Mesa Verde
Great resuming run for 2nd by Mesa Verde at Rotorua, where she was only out-finished late by her promising stablemate, Scouser. She looks to find a very winnable R65 contest 2nd up and should get every chance from the low barrier (2).
Te Aroha Race 7
5 Golden Century
Te Aroha Race 8
5 Checkmate
Checkmate launched late on debut to finish 2nd, where he beat home subsequent winner, Levakia. He has a nice low draw (4) to work with here and will likely be allowed to find his feet as he did on debut. Will be rattling home late and the roomy 500m straight at Te Aroha should suit him.
