Tauranga Race 1
6 Prosegur
Tip of The Day

OpenRace time: 06:29 pm, 15 Nov 2024
Prosegur is a smart and untapped filly from the in-form Wexford stable. She was extremely good late in the piece last start over 1200m here at Tauranga, with her last 200m in 10.98s being the 2nd fastest of the entire meeting. Any forecasted rain likely only favours her over others in this race also. She looks very hard to beat for mine. Best bet.

Tauranga Race 2
11 Santa Catalina

Santa Catalina had no luck last start where she was hampered on a couple of occasions in the home straight. Two starts back, she found the line very well at Ellerslie despite not having the clearest of passages in the straight that day either. She draws the inside gate in this, now 3rd up, and any rain wouldn't hurt her chances either. She looks a great each way play for mine.

Tauranga Race 3
2 Twain

Twain jumped away awkwardly last start which possibly cost him the race given he ran well to finish 3rd beaten 0.5L. He's drawn a nice low gate (4) for this assignment, which should see him leading or handy to the speed with a cleaner getaway. He won't be concerned by any rain, given he won his first two career starts on fairly testing Heavy tracks.

Tauranga Race 4
3 Egyptian Queen

Egyptian Queen got back and finished on okay in a slowly run race at Ellerslie last start. She's now had three runs back from a spell and will be hitting peak fitness for this assignment. Rihaan Goyaram's 3kg claim will aid her chances, while the prospect of any rain likely wouldn't concern her.

Tauranga Race 5
3 Pacifico

Pacifico has been disappointing his past couple but the prospect of rain and a Heavy track as a consequence is music to his ears. He'll be handy to the speed with Rihaan Goyaram claiming 3kg and could prove very hard to catch if he gets his desired Heavy footing.

Tauranga Race 6
5 Saint Bathans

Saint Bathans found the line well enough last start considering he was posted wide and working for the entirety of the race. He now draws a nice low gate (2), which should see him land handy to the speed without doing too much early work. He won't have any concerns about a rain-effected track. Looks to get his chance to bounce back to winning form in this.

Tauranga Race 7
1 Ladies Man

Ladies Man was terrific behind Mustang Valley at this course/distance last start, where he found the line well under his 60kg impost. He's much better suited under WFA conditions as the clear top rated horse in this race. I wouldn't be surprised to see him settle handier from the inside draw in this, given the lack of tempo in the race outside of Sagunto. He should only be getting closer to his peak now 3rd up here and should be very hard to beat.

Tauranga Race 8
11 The Letter

The Letter will be praying for the forecasted rain to arrive, as the prospect of a testing Heavy10 track come the last race of the day will suit her much more than her opponents in this. She'll be up on the speed under apprentice Jim Chung and giving a great sight at long odds. If the rain wasn't to arrive in Tauranga, The Prophet has plenty of upside and would be the one to beat for mine.
