Riccarton Synthetic Race 1
6 Hey Mickey

Hey Mickey has been a touch hit and miss of late, however, he now drops back into R60 company and looks well placed with only 55.5kg on his back after the claim. From the wide draw (9), I expect that they will elect to roll forward and look to find the front in a race which only looks somewhat devoid of tempo. He should enjoy being back on the synthetic and I thought he was overs at $6 in early markets.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 2
2 Rocmont
Tip of The Day

Rocmont was pestered throughout by the riderless horse at Riccarton last start and wasn't too bad given the circumstances. While the step up to 2100m here is a slight query, I have him mapped to lead this race and dictate as Denby-Rose Tait likes. Should that eventuate, I thought he would take plenty of running down in this.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 3
6 Richie's Dream

Richie's Dream has been fair at best of late during NZ Cup Week at Riccarton. His career peak figure came in a R60 on the Cambridge Synthetic before he ventured south this season. I thought getting back on the synthetic surface here would be a big assist and if he was to replicate that career peak mentioned above, he would be more than competitive in what is only a moderate maiden contest.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 4
10 Ali Nel

Ali Nel's recent trial was very impressive when leading throughout and coasting home to win under her own steam. While she has drawn wide (9) for this resuming run, I thought she might lead this field rather comfortably given the lack of on-speed runners drawn underneath her. She looks the one they clearly have to beat if she was to find the front in this.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 5
2 Ka Ying Lucky

Ka Ying Lucky has been running well below his best of late, however, he now gets the right setup to find some form. He will get back from the wider draw (8) off what looks to be a very strong tempo. Joe Doyle now takes the reins and I expect he will run a much improved race here. Very good each way play for mine.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 6
1 Caravella

Caravella comes into this third-up and drops back from the premier sprinting races at the NZ Cup Week carnival through November. From the wide gate (9), I'm hoping they elect to go back given the strong speed drawn underneath. She possesses a strong turn of foot on her day and has performed well here in the past when getting back off a strong tempo.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 7
11 Miss Sailor

Miss Sailor typically gets back in her races and as a result often relies on tempo and the gaps opening at the right time. From the low gate (5), she'll likely get back off what should be a hot tempo in this big field and likely riding the rail turning in. From there, if the right version of her shows up, she could be rattling home at a great price in this.

Riccarton Synthetic Race 8
2 Rule Of Law

Rule Of Law is first-up in the South Island Te Akau stable and he brings superior northern form into what only looks a moderate R65 field. He won on the Cambridge Synthetic in September and would be hard to beat with a repeat effort of that performance.
