Ruakākā Race 1
1 Kakadu

Tricky small field to kick off proceedings at Ruakaka, where I thought Kakadu could run an improved race from the low draw (2). His work through and past the line over 1400m at Rotorua last start suggested he might be back to something near his better form. He can either lead or trail the speed from the draw in what should only be a moderately run 1600m.

Ruakākā Race 2
5 Super Fly

Super Fly was enormous last start at Te Aroha when caught three-wide and working throughout. Despite looking beaten halfway down the long Te Aroha straight, she had the audacity to surge again over the final 100m and record the 2nd fastest closing 200m of the race. The step up to 1600m looks ideal. She looks very hard to beat with a repeat of her last start effort.

Ruakākā Race 3
7 Pure Delight

Pure Delight is a locally trained mare who was a touch disappointing last start after two very good runs at Ellerslie prior. Her 2nd two starts back behind impressive subsequent winner Risque Ruler stacks up well for this. She's on the quick back-up at her home track and looks to get every conceivable chance to make amends in what looks a moderate maiden field.

Ruakākā Race 4
4 Haller

Haller wasn't bad two starts back behind Market Square when recording the fastest last 200m of the race. Last start he was caught wide and was consequently well beaten. Back on his home track with Wiremu Pinn now jumping aboard, I thought he could run an improved race at long odds in what is an open race.

Ruakākā Race 5
3 Bonifleur

Tip of The Day
Bonifleur drops back into R60 company despite running some decent races in relatively strong R65 contests in her three runs this time in. She maps to get back from the wide draw (9), in a race that looks to have a strong tempo engaged. If she runs up to anything close to her best, she should be winning with even luck in running for mine. Best bet.

Ruakākā Race 6
3 Guipago

Guipago is a locally trained 3yo son of Tivaci on debut for Chris Gibbs. His last trial at Ruakaka over 1200m with the blinkers on couldn't have been much more impressive. Looks to find a winnable maiden on debut at his home track.

Ruakākā Race 7
12 Vadahi

Vadahi's last start 4th behind Permissive at Te Aroha had plenty of merit after doing early work to find the front. From the low draw (2), I thought she mapped to get a nice run trailing the likely leader, Montana Bay. If that eventuates, she's a solid each way chance at the price.

Ruakākā Race 8
4 Eyesonlyonme

Eyesonlyonme's resuming run over 1600m at Pukekohe was very good where she finished on well in a race where not many made ground. She'll be better for that run and now steps up to 2200m which should suit.
