Ruakākā Race 1
14 Conscribe
Conscribe (#14) really caught the eye late at Taupo after looking in all sorts of trouble at the 600m, before picking up again once getting to better ground. That effort suggests the mile on a firmer surface will be ideal, and from a middle draw under Matt Cameron she looks to get her chance.
Ruakākā Race 2
9 Distintiva
Distintiva (#9) was scratched here last start after strong early market support. Her two runs this campaign have been sound without setting the world on fire, but the addition of blinkers third-up could spark improvement. Each way chance at odds.
Ruakākā Race 3
4 Transcend
TIP OF THE DAY
Transcend (#4) went enormous on debut as a 2yo back in May when finishing 2nd behind Country Salon. Her subsequent trial placing was excellent, in the fastest time of the day, without being asked for much of an effort. With George Rooke aboard from a favourable draw, she should take plenty of beating first-up.
Ruakākā Race 4
5 Daring Dame
Daring Dame (#5) resumes as a maiden after going close on many occasions last campaign. She trialled strongly when allowed to roll along in front and has the draw to do the same here on raceday under Warren Kennedy. Shapes as the one they'll have to run down.
Ruakākā Race 5
2 Charlemagne
Charlemagne (#2) wasn't disgraced last start at Te Rapa, where he was forced to make his run wide in a race dominated by those closer to the rail. He has proven a touch dour over 1600m, so stepping up to 2100m looks ideal. A significant swing in barriers should see him settle much handier this time. An improved showing is expected.
Ruakākā Race 6
8 Tide And Time
Tide And Time (#8) was fair from the back here last start on a testing surface, where I'm Lulu and Richie's Dream had her measure. She now gets a swing in the weights against both rivals, a better draw, and improved conditions to work with. Happy to side with her at the price.
Ruakākā Race 7
3 Dancing Dream
Dancing Dream (#3) ran well for 3rd here last start despite not really letting down on the Heavy track. She'll be much better suited on firmer footing, and Michael McNab back aboard is a positive. Her win two back is a better guide for this and she looks ready to bounce back.
Ruakākā Race 8
11 Is That All
Is That All (#11) makes his debut for Tony Pike off the back of strong trial efforts. Scratched at Taupo last week, likely waiting for a better surface, and he now gets that here. Despite tackling race winners, this looks a winnable assignment and he should be hard to stop.
