Cambridge Picks - Tuesday, 9 September

Cambridge Synthetic Race 1
9 Zivou

Zivou (#9) is a well-bred colt on debut for the James/Wellwood team. His recent trial here was excellent, suggesting he is forward enough to strike first-up. From a middle draw he should get a good cart across from Remember Ferrando. A bold showing is expected.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 2
3 Electric Zou

Electric Zou (#3) closed off well when running 2nd here last start behind Seamsew. He again maps to secure an ideal trailing run from the inside draw, and looks well placed to turn the tables and go one better.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 3
8 Fairy Dream

Fairy Dream (#8), a Proisir filly on debut for James/Wellwood, impressed with her trial win at Ruakaka. George Rooke takes the ride and she looks capable of featuring in what is an even maiden line-up.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 4
6 Retrostar

Retrostar (#6) resumes after contesting strong 3yo company last season. Her recent trial here was sharp, finding the line strongly once clear. At the price she appeals as a speculative each way play fresh.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 5
3 Subiaco

Subiaco (#3) was excellent first-up at Taupo when running 2nd without much luck in the run. He should get a good drag across from the speed drawn underneath, and if he lands just off the leaders, he'll be hard to hold out late.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 6
5 Wainui Bay

Wainui Bay (#5) wasn't suited by the Heavy track last start, but getting back to the polytrack looks ideal. From the low draw she can find the front and dictate, even with the Chris Wood pair likely pressing forward. Looks a strong chance to bounce back.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 7
2 Rocky Marciano

TIP OF THE DAY
Rocky Marciano (#2) looks ready to shed his maiden tag. He's run 2nd in both starts this prep and now gets to 2000m third-up. With Opie Bosson sticking in the saddle, this shapes as his best chance yet. Hard to beat.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 8
5 Don Pauly

Don Pauly (#5) showed signs of returning to form with a close-up third here last start. Craig Grylls takes the reins from a good draw, and he maps to get every chance. Shapes as the horse to beat in the last.
