Matamata Race 1
6 Zacabasso

TIP OF THE DAY
Zacabasso (#6) produced a strong first-up run on a Heavy9 at Taupo, sustaining a long sprint from the back and only peaking late into 3rd. She'll be improved for that outing and the heavy conditions won't bother her. She looks well placed to go one better.

Matamata Race 2
7 Papparazzi

Papparazzi (#7) can be forgiven for his debut at Te Rapa, where he got lost out the back and wide. He now draws more favourably and the Heavy track should suit going off his trials. With George Rooke aboard, he's worth another chance at the price.

Matamata Race 3
10 Piccola Bellezza

Piccola Bellezza (#10) is a 4yo Almanzor mare making her debut for Janenne Dalley. She has trialled twice on Heavy tracks, handling them well. With Matt Cameron booked, she's worth speculating on at odds.

Matamata Race 4
8 Zerre

Zerre (#8) was below par last start, but her effort prior on a Heavy track had enough merit to suggest she can bounce back. She's an on-speed type and from the wide draw should roll forward under Sam Collett and look to give a sight.

Matamata Race 5
4 Wave Ruler

Wave Ruler (#4) didn't fire on debut, but that race has proven to be a strong form race already. His trials on Heavy tracks were solid and gear changes have been made ahead of this. At the price, he's worth a look.

Matamata Race 6
2 Horrie

Horrie (#2) has been unlucky not to win at either of his past two starts. Dropping back to 1200m fresh should suit and a wide draw later in the day could be favourable. Expect him to roll forward and look to run a cheeky race out in front.

Matamata Race 7
5 Niagara Sky

Open Race time: 12:05 am, 12 Sept
Niagara Sky (#5) ran well fresh at New Plymouth but her last two efforts have been well below par. Now fourth-up and dropping in grade, she looks well placed to show improvement also with the assistance of Rihaan Goyaram's 2kg claim. Worth giving another chance.

Matamata Race 8
5 Hey Hey Baby

Hey Hey Baby (#5) is a grinding mare who should be well suited on a testing surface in the last race of the day. She's fit and fairly consistent, having won in similar conditions here back in May. At odds, she looks a good each way chance.
