New Plymouth Race 1
5 Luminance

Luminance (#5) looks a great play here at the price. She should relish conditions and is expected to roll forward to sit outside Spandeedo. From there, she may prove too tough late in the testing ground.

New Plymouth Race 2
10 King Jakkal

King Jakkal (#10) is a locally trained 3yo from the Sharrock yard who has won two trials in very good fashion ahead of his debut. Kelly Myers rode him in both and sticks for raceday. He looks forward enough to make a winning start to his career.

New Plymouth Race 3
5 Fancypants

Fancypants (#5) hasn't shown his best for a while but resumes here off a good trial and with the blinkers now applied. Craig Grylls jumps aboard and the Heavy track shouldn't pose any issues. The best version of him would be winning this.

New Plymouth Race 4
5 What A Charma

What A Charma (#5) was finding the line well at Wanganui last start behind Bozo and Urenui. He looks well placed again, carrying just 52kg after the claim. He has a strong record here at New Plymouth on Heavy tracks and is a genuine each way chance at the price.

New Plymouth Race 5
16 Dorothy's Daughter

Dorothy's Daughter (#16) comes here off a last start hurdling win, while her prior 4th at this course/distance was encouraging. The fitness edge from her jumping efforts should help, and she's capable of running a bold race at odds.

New Plymouth Race 6
5 Indian Gold

Indian Gold (#5) built nicely to his last-start win here. Although up in grade now, he carries just 53.5kg after the claim. Expect him to settle back and look to power over the top late.

New Plymouth Race 7
2 King Khan

King Khan (#2) is a tough grinding stayer who will love the Heavy conditions. Though unproven over this distance, he should find his rhythm back in the field and be running on strongly under Craig Grylls. A very even field for the Road to the Jericho, but he looks the one they have to beat.

New Plymouth Race 8
6 War Queen

TIP OF THE DAY
War Queen (#6) ran well at Te Rapa last start, looming before peaking late into 5th. Heavy conditions don't worry her, while Craig Grylls jumps aboard from a handy draw, which should see her given every chance. She shapes as the one to beat.
