Te Aroha Race 1
2 Invisible Spirit
TIP OF THE DAY
Invisible Spirit (#2) held his own against better opposition last start at Woodville. He ran a distant 3rd that day but sustained a long sprint from the back and just peaked on his run over the last 400m. Coming back in trip and class should suit, where he looks the horse to beat in what is a moderate maiden steeplechase.
Te Aroha Race 2
4 Yellow Jersey
Yellow Jersey (#4) produced a good run for 3rd at his hurdling debut, where he looked to travel into the race nicely before peaking late in the piece. He should be improved for that first jumps assignment and has had the benefit of a trial since to keep him ticking over for this.
Te Aroha Race 3
3 Who's Sam
Who's Sam (#3) gave a very good account of himself at his first two hurdling assignments. He didn't fire at his last hurdle run and also ran poorly at his last start on the flat. Willing to give him another chance in what looks a moderate hurdling affair. Can go close with a repeat of his first two jumps efforts.
Te Aroha Race 4
4 Lord Spencer
Lord Spencer (#4) was eye-catching late for 5th despite being beaten a large margin in the Pakuranga Hunt Hurdle. He won this race last year and the presence of Berry The Cash in this field sees him well in under the compressed weight scale. He'll be getting home as good as any and looks a strong each way chance.
Te Aroha Race 5
8 Hootie Johnson
Hootie Johnson (#8) faces a very even amateur riders' race with little between the field from top to bottom. He sustained a long wide run here last start and kept on well for 4th. Expecting he will settle back of midfield again from the middle draw and look to finish on down the outer.
Te Aroha Race 6
3 Kerbline
Kerbline (#3) resumes here off a long break. His latest trial effort with the blinkers on looked good, and they go on for this first-up raceday assignment too. While a lack of recent racing is a concern on what may be a testing surface, this isn't the strongest maiden field for his resumption.
Te Aroha Race 7
10 Our Easy Street
Our Easy Street (#10) ran a bold race for 4th here first-up. She will be better off getting out over 1600m second-up and is likely to be allowed to settle back in the field and work home late again here.
Te Aroha Race 8
6 Smokin Mo
Smokin Mo (#6) comes into this third-up but is eight weeks between runs. Her latest trial with the blinkers on was excellent and they stay on raceday. She'll be getting back over the 1600m and finding the line strongly. Looks a solid each way contender.
