Ellerslie Race 1
14 Pieces Of Eight

Pieces Of Eight (#14) resumes off an excellent trial win, where he coasted to the line under his own steam. Expecting Tayla Mitchell to be positive early and look to cross most, if not all, from the wide draw. Could take catching if he finds the front.

Ellerslie Race 2
6 Earlicheer

Earlicheer (#6), a 3yo son of Super Seth out of the great mare Daffodil, makes his debut for Stephen Marsh. His trials have been sharp, especially his latest effort here. Has to navigate a wide draw but can run a bold race on debut.

Ellerslie Race 3
1 Churmatt

Churmatt (#1) ran a good race for 2nd in the Wanganui Guineas on a more testing surface than he likely desires. His debut win prior was excellent and he now finds a very winnable race here. Opie Bosson takes the reins from a low draw, looks hard to beat.

Ellerslie Race 4
1 Drop Of Something

Drop Of Something (#1) was extremely brave last start here when going down a head to Bosch after sitting wide and working throughout. From the low draw, he maps to settle up on speed again and with even luck he shapes as the one to beat in an even field of stayers.

Ellerslie Race 5
9 Santa Catalina

Santa Catalina (#9) got a long way out of her ground last start before finishing well in a race where those back and wide never got into it. Third-up now with Craig Grylls aboard from a better draw, she should land closer to the speed and give a good account of herself.

Ellerslie Race 6
10 Social Climber

Social Climber (#10) closed off well for 7th here last start in a bunched finish. She gets a significant swing in barrier draws this time and looks likely to take up a much handier position. A good each way chance in a race where several at the top of the market have awkward maps.

Ellerslie Race 7
6 Celestial Wonder

Celestial Wonder (#6) resumes after trialling superbly, barely asked to run a step in each outing. The wide draw is a query, but Opie in the saddle can help offset that. If she can run up to her trials she should give a good account of herself.

Ellerslie Race 8
1 Lollapalooza

TIP OF THE DAY
Lollapalooza (#1) was outstanding when winning the Gr.3 Gold Trail Stakes last start, producing the fastest closing 400m and 200m of the entire meeting. The way she found the line suggests 1400m will only suit her further. She clearly looks the one to beat.

Ellerslie Race 9
2 Tardelli

Tardelli (#2) resumes as a 4yo entire after a sharp trial win here earlier this month, where he stretched away under his own steam in good time. With Captured By Love drawn directly underneath, he may follow her into the race and look to go on by late.

Ellerslie Race 10
14 Casemiro

Casemiro (#14) was game when 2nd last start behind the progressive mare Levakia. His trial win here since was very good, and the wide draw isn't a major concern with the long run into the first bend at Ellerslie's 1600m start point. A solid each way chance at the price.
