Cambridge Picks - Tuesday, 23 September

Cambridge Synthetic Race 1
10 La Cadiere

La Cadiere (#10) didn't get all favours on debut in what was a strong maiden field at Te Rapa. She had trialled well prior and should be better suited returning to her home track, even though she is untested publicly on the poly. An improved showing wouldn't surprise.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 2
7 Pink Gin

Pink Gin (#7) stopped sharply first-up in the Gold Trail Stakes when softened up after leading. From the low draw she should have the speed to lead this 970m dash, but she can't afford to miss the jump in a race with plenty of tempo. The horse to beat if she begins cleanly and finds the front.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 3
10 Happy Youmzain

TIP OF THE DAY
Happy Youmzain (#10) resumes here, having last been sighted finishing 4th at Ellerslie on debut in June. His trials since have been quiet but sound, and Opie Bosson sticks from the latest to ride raceday. In what looks a weak maiden, he shapes clearly as the horse to beat.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 4
9 Fun Never Sets

Fun Never Sets (#9) resumes as a 4yo after contesting some high-quality 3yo races last season. Her recent trials have been solid enough without setting the world on fire, but she finds herself in a very even line-up fresh. Worth keeping safe at the price.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 5
10 Lydiard Park

Open Race time: 11:00 pm, Today
Lydiard Park (#10), a 3yo son of Wootton Bassett, was far from disgraced on debut at Ruakaka. He looks much better suited on an even surface in the form of the polytrack and has drawn well for George Rooke to give him every chance here.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 6
1 Liquid Fire

Liquid Fire (#1), a locally trained stayer, resumes here with some nice trial efforts under his belt. He maps to take a sit just off the leaders from the low draw and could run a cheeky race fresh. Likely on a NZ Cup path, but still capable of surprising here.

Cambridge Synthetic Race 7
2 Golden

Golden (#2) was too bad to be true last start and pulled up with excuses. She should be ready to show her best now third-up and looks suited staying at 2000m. Shapes as a very good each way chance to close the day.
