Riccarton Park Race 1
12 Miss Ziggy
TIP OF THE DAY
Miss Ziggy (#12) ran a strong race for 5th in the Canterbury Belle Stakes last start, where she didn't enjoy all favours in the run. Back in maiden company she looks well placed, and 1400m should hold no concerns. She appeals as the one they'll have to beat.
Riccarton Park Race 2
3 Oaksdeel
Oaksdeel (#3) resumes as a 4yo, last sighted finishing 4th in the Listed Warstep Stakes back in May. She's drawn wide but maps to go back and find cover in the second half under Jack Taplin. While this trip is short of her best, she looks a worthwhile speculative play at the price.
Riccarton Park Race 3
7 Pontoon
Pontoon (#7), a 3yo son of Ace High, resumes for Shankar Muniandy. His only start as a 2yo produced a solid 5th behind Zelia, where he did his best work late. 1400m looks suitable and with natural improvement from his debut outing, he's another I'm happy to speculate on at the price.
Riccarton Park Race 4
3 Out Of The Blue
Out Of The Blue (#3) makes his debut, a 2yo son of Tivaci for Te Akau. His Waipa trial showed good early speed, which should be an asset from the inside draw. Likely to lead on the fence, which is often key in early-season juvenile races, looks the one they'll have to catch.
Riccarton Park Race 5
3 The Entertainer
The Entertainer (#3) ran well here first-up for 2nd over 1400m. She maps to sit just behind the leaders and Liam Kauri's 3kg claim gets her in light at 55.5kg. With natural improvement, she looks a strong chance to go one better.
Riccarton Park Race 6
10 Little But Fierce
Little But Fierce (#10) impressed with her finishing burst down the outer to run 2nd here last start. From a middle draw she maps to her a good smother back of midfield where Jack Taplin will look to save her for one run at them late. A repeat of last start puts her right in the mix.
Riccarton Park Race 7
3 Mystic Park
Mystic Park (#3) is worth another chance after failing to produce his best here first-up. From a low draw he maps to cross Miss Brittany and lead, and if left alone in front he will be very hard to reel in.
Riccarton Park Race 8
2 Noble Knight
Noble Knight (#2) wasn't far away when finishing 6th first-up, finding little room in the straight. He'll be improved for that run and staying at 2000m looks okay. Versatile enough to be ridden forward or neutral dependant on early pressure, he looks capable of featuring prominently as he builds towards the NZ Cup.
Riccarton Park Race 9
9 Legally Binding
Legally Binding (#9) was brave first-up when run down late here, in what was his first outing in 10 months. While he loses Opie Bosson, Jasmine Fawcett is a good replacement given her naturally positive riding style. Expect him to roll forward from the wide draw and take catching.
Riccarton Park Race 10
2 Peachy Keen
Peachy Keen (#2) closed off well into 2nd here last start over 1580m, suggesting the 2000m will be ideal now. Likely to be ridden quietly from a wide draw, she'll be saved for one late run. In a very even field she shapes as the one to beat.
