MEETING ABANDONED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
Gore Race 1
1 Polly's Guru
Polly's Guru (#1) ran a solid race for 2nd last start when ridden positively early, and he looks capable of leading again here. With Saint likely the only resistance to him finding the front, he should get every chance on the pace. Brings the most reliable form to the table in a modest maiden and looks the one to beat.
Gore Race 2
4 Maria Pilar
Maria Pilar (#4) resumes after a spell but showed enough last campaign to be highly competitive in this line-up. She handled a Heavy track fresh-up last campaign and won't mind any rain on the day. Looks somewhat of a known quantity in a race of unknowns.
Gore Race 3
7 Roc 'N' Ready
Roc 'N' Ready (#7) found the Canterbury Belle Stakes far too strong last time out but should relish the drop back to R65 grade. As a 3yo filly, she comes in nicely at the weights and a rain-affected surface could bring her right into play. Capable of sharp improvement.
Gore Race 4
2 First Eminent
First Eminent (#2) was very good first-up when finishing 3rd at Ascot Park and looks perfectly placed to go close here. The step in trip suits, and a testing track didn't seem to bother her last start. Hard to get a gauge on Venetian, therefore happy to side with First Eminent.
Gore Race 5
11 Candidate
Candidate (#11) never got into the race first-up after missing the kick and overracing badly. A senior jockey taking over should help him settle, and that outing should have taken the edge off him. If he relaxes better, he can run a vastly improved race.
Gore Race 6
7 Balzano
Balzano (#7) backs up quickly from Wingatui last week and looks well suited in this line-up. He maps to settle just off the speed in what looks as thought it'll be a genuinely run affair. He's rock hard fit and should keep grinding to the line on what may be a testing surface.
Gore Race 7
1 Vamos
TIP OF THE DAY
Vamos (#1) worked hard last start before tiring late for 2nd. Expect him to roll forward again from the middle draw and find a prominent spot on the speed. His prior win at this track two starts ago was dominant, and a repeat of that effort would see him very hard to stop.
Gore Race 8
12 Leroy
Leroy (#12) was brave last start at Wingatui, trapped wide throughout yet still boxing on for 4th. Draws slightly better here and carries just 53.5kg with Donovan Cooper's claim. Should be fitter again and represents great each-way value in the last.
