New Plymouth Race 1
5 Takes Time
Takes Time (#5) has been building solidly this prep, including a game 4th here two starts ago in R65 company. She looks ideally placed back to maiden grade on a Heavy surface that she handles well. Very winnable race for her.
New Plymouth Race 2
1 Indian Gold
Indian Gold (#1) looks over the odds for mine. His latest effort for 6th at Waverley had plenty of merit. The small field suits, as he appears to possess the sharpest turn of foot in the line-up. Expect him to settle back and launch late, capable of running them down.
New Plymouth Race 3
3 Jacks Pride
Jacks Pride (#3) was brave last start when caught wide throughout yet still finishing within 4 lengths of the winner. She's race-fit on the quick back-up and handles a Heavy track better than most. Looks a strong each-way chance in an even R60 field.
New Plymouth Race 4
4 Too Darn Sweet
Too Darn Sweet (#4) ran a terrific debut 2nd at Taupo in a field much stronger than this. From a wide draw she should cross and lead under Craig Grylls, who can control proceedings from there. If she handles the conditions, she'll take plenty of beating.
New Plymouth Race 5
2 Thorax
Thorax (#2) is a locally trained debutant by Ribchester for Robbie Patterson, who impressed winning his trial on a Heavy10 at Awapuni. Expect him to roll forward from his gate and prove very hard to reel in if he reproduces that trial effort on raceday.
New Plymouth Race 6
1 Dun Talkin'
Dun Talkin' (#1) was good on debut when sticking on for 3rd after looking like he was battling turning for home. That experience will bring him on, and while a testing Heavy10 is a query, he did trial well on a Heavy10 prior to his debut. Genuine winning chance in a modest field.
New Plymouth Race 7
5 Freebelle
TIP OF THE DAY
Freebelle (#5) backs up quickly from Waverley where she found the line late. She'll strip fitter and strikes a very winnable race here. A strong showing is expected second-up. Hard to beat.
New Plymouth Race 8
4 Rosesrred
Rosesrred (#4) never got into the race last start after a slow beginning but can turn things around here. Maps to lead comfortably from a middle draw in a race lacking early speed, and the claim helps offset the weight. Can give them plenty to chase.
New Plymouth Race 9
8 Fulla Grace
Fulla Grace (#8) resumes after scoring dominantly in a maiden highweight before a short break. Trialled quietly since without blinkers, which go back on here for Raceday. Carries just 54 kg after the claim and is capable of a big fresh-up run if he handles the conditions.
