Ellerslie Race 1
1 Harvey Wallbanger
Harvey Wallbanger (#1) is a 2yo son of Home Affairs on debut from the Tony Pike yard. His trial win was impressive. In a small but tricky field of first-starters, he looks the one to beat of their respective trial efforts.
Ellerslie Race 2
7 Liquid Fire
Liquid Fire (#7) ran a nice race for 4th first-up on the Synthetic, grinding away strongly to the line. He'll strip fitter for that effort and maps to land handy to the speed from a low draw. Has shown promise in the past and should be right in the finish if he runs up to something near his best.
Ellerslie Race 3
15 Mizzette
Mizzette (#15) was very good late in the Sunline Vase, finding the line well in a good field of fillies. The blinkers go on, and back to maiden grade she looks extremely well suited. From a low draw she can settle closer to the speed and should be finishing off well again.
Ellerslie Race 4
3 Master Fay
Master Fay (#3) resumes after contesting the Gr.1 Railway over the summer. His two quiet trials suggest he's come back in good order. The map could be a touch sticky but if ridden positively, I have him settling just off the pace in what should be a genuinely run race. A forward showing first-up would come as no surprise.
Ellerslie Race 5
11 Social Climber
Social Climber (#11) has produced two solid runs here in recent weeks, including a big late run two back. From a wide draw she'll likely get back again, but with good tempo expected up front, she can storm home late under just 55kg after the claim.
Ellerslie Race 6
5 What You Wish For
TIP OF THE DAY
What You Wish For (#5) didn't get all favours first-up at Taupo but was only fair when clear. He'll be fitter for that and maps to settle handier this time with Electric Time likely to provide a cart across early. Craig Grylls takes over, and the step to 1600m looks ideal. Expecting a much improved effort.
Ellerslie Race 7
1 Casemiro
Casemiro (#1) has been excellent in both runs this campaign over this track and trip. The wide draw isn't ideal, but the long run to the first turn from the 1600m start point at Ellerslie gives Wiremu Pinn time to find a spot. On the quick backup, can go one better here.
Ellerslie Race 8
3 Burn To Shine
Burn To Shine (#3) resumes after a long layoff but has looked sharp in two trials leading in. He'll take improvement from the run but appears forward enough to give a good account fresh. Likely to settle back from the middle draw under Kozzi and look to hit the line strongly late.
