Avondale Race 1
8 Luvabeel
TIP OF THE DAY
Luvabeel (#8) went very close at Te Aroha last start, storming home from the back over 1600m. The way she wound up late suggested 2100m will only be to her benefit, and she clearly appreciated getting on to firmer footing. She looks a level above this field and should be winning.
Avondale Race 2
5 We Found Love
We Found Love (#5) resumes with no public trials but typically performs well fresh. She drops back into a very winnable R60 assignment and gets the services of George Rooke from the inside draw. If she returns anywhere near her best, she should take plenty of beating.
Avondale Race 3
18 Woman In Charge
Woman In Charge (#18) (dual acceptor) has produced two excellent runs to start her career, finishing strongly into 2nd on both occasions. Drawn to land a touch closer here, she shouldn't be getting too far back and will be finding the line powerfully again late.
Avondale Race 4
11 Woman In Charge
Woman In Charge (#11) (dual acceptor) has run two very good races to begin her career, closing strongly into 2nd on each occasion. She maps to settle back of midfield from her middle draw and will look to produce another powerful run late. A leading chance again if she contests this.
Avondale Race 5
10 Dida
Dida (#10) is a 3yo gelding by Proisir on debut for the James/Wellwood stable. His two trials on Heavy tracks have been encouraging and he may be better getting on to a firmer surface. With Opie Bosson taking the steer, he should get every chance to make his debut a winning one.
Avondale Race 6
12 Road To Paris
Road To Paris (#12) made good late ground into 7th on debut at Ellerslie in a maiden that has already proven to be a good form race. He will appreciate the additional 200m here and while he'll likely get back from the wide draw he'll be finding the line strongly again. Looks the one to beat with natural improvement.
Avondale Race 7
13 Wee Nessy
Wee Nessy (#13) ran a very good race for 5th on debut at Ellerslie behind subsequent Gr.2 winner Swiss Prince. Her final 100m suggested the rise to a mile is ideal, and Warren Kennedy now taking over looks a key positive. She appears hard to beat in this field.
Avondale Race 8
5 Proudtobehere
Proudtobehere (#5) wasn't disgraced first-up at Te Aroha when somewhat exposed throughout on a strong tempo and still fought on well into 5th. She'll be improved for that run and maps to land much handier from the inside draw this time. A key contender in an even race.
Avondale Race 9
3 Sir Fergus
Sir Fergus (#3) was slowly away first-up and was never a factor thereafter. Craig Grylls takes over for this second-up run and a more positive ride looks likely should he jump evenly. If he can bounce back to something like his debut win, he should be right in the finish.
