WANGANUI Race
6 Cowboy

Cowboy (#6) got back on debut in a strong Ellerslie maiden and never came into it, but his trials prior were solid enough to suggest he can be competitive in a field of this depth. Should get an economical run from the low draw. An improved showing wouldn't surprise.

WANGANUI Race 2
5 Circus Dancer

Circus Dancer (#5) impressed winning on debut on a testing New Plymouth track, and she'll naturally improve from the raceday experience. Drawn to get a trailing run behind a genuine tempo, she can be powering over the top late if the gaps go her way.

WANGANUI Race 3
6 Lucullan

Lucullan (#6) folded sharply at Trentham last start with no clear excuse, but the stable has tinkered with his gear as a consequence ahead of this. Expect Toni Davies to roll forward from the wide draw and look to make all from the front end. Anything close to his best would take beating in this.

WANGANUI Race 4
1 Sindee

Sindee (#1) resumes after last being seen winning back in March. She arrives without a trial, which is standard for her and the stable. Given the expected strong early tempo, she maps to settle off the speed from her wide draw, where there should be plenty of gaps early. If she finds a spot and they overdo it in front, she'll be hard to hold out late

WANGANUI Race 5
3 Bedtime Story

Bedtime Story (#3) peaked 100m out last start when collared late, finishing into 3rd behind Marotiri Molly and race rival Blissful Belle. The drop back to 1340m looks ideal going off that and she again draws to get every possible chance just behind the speed. Clearly the one to beat.

WANGANUI Race 6
6 Blue Jeanie

Blue Jeanie (#6) hit the line well first-up at Tauherenikau for 3rd and looks better suited second-up over a mile. From the wider draw, expect her to settle back off a genuine tempo and look to finish strongly down the outside.

WANGANUI Race 7
2 Nest Egg

Nest Egg (#2) hasn't shown much in two runs this prep, but both were well short of his best trip. Third-up and out to 2040m looks much more suitable, and with Sagunto and Rua Rocks ensuring a genuine clip, it should setup nicely for him to finish off well late. He's one who can improve sharply at odds.

WANGANUI Race 8
7 Fosse (scratched)

Fosse (#7) heads here fourth-up following three very respectable efforts in stronger fields at Ellerslie. She's been building nicely this prep and looks well suited rising to 2040m. She'll get back from the draw, but if she can blend into the race and be within striking range turning for home, she'll be hard to hold out late.
