Tabcorp Park Menangle Preview & Best Bets – Saturday, October 4

A step up in distance gives champion pacer Swayzee his chance to return to the winners’ stall when he heads to Menangle on Saturday night.

He is one of several Group 1 winners on show including last-start Queensland Oaks winner Soho Americano who takes on a field of handy mares when she returns in the Frith Ladyship Stakes.

Race-by-race preview of Menangle, Saturday October 4

Race 1: AINSWORTH PACE

BAINBRIDGE (10) was far from disgraced when midfield in stronger company last start and will relish the class drop having come from a similar barrier to win in this grade at this circuit and distance two back. He could repeat the dose. TERRY (11) has worked his way back into winning form, getting home by 2.8m over this distance last week. Draws wider but has gate speed and could go on with it now. DONEGAL LUTHER (6) chased some smart rivals when midfield at Listed level last start. Has yet to win at the mile but the form is good, winning three of his previous four outings here. UNFAZED (8) was only 4m behind Terry when placed last week and had won two of his prior three outings, one from this draw. Respect. VITE MONET (4) hasn't been far away of late so can be competitive.

Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE

MIKI COHEN (3) was a brave fourth in the Carousel final last start and had been making good progress prior, winning his previous two outings at this circuit. Has the gate speed to take advantage of the good draw and that could see him hard to stop. FORCE FULL (4) found winning form in a higher-graded race at Bathurst last start, working forward to find the front before scoring by 7.6m. Capable and could measure up again. ALTA WILLIAM (6) drew out when midfield in the Carousel final after coming from this barrier to score in his heat here prior. He could be a danger. MIKE ROSS (7) got close to Miki Cohen when runner-up here two back. Can feature again along with ROYAL DIVISION (10) who had this same draw when he chased a smart one in a last-start fourth.

Race 3: CANNIBAL STANDING AT COBBITTY EQUINE FARM PACE

SWAYZEE (10) was a beaten favourite when resuming in the Len Smith Mile four weeks ago but he had to work hard so was far from disgraced when less than 5m away. Has won a trial since and will relish the longer trip having won four of five attempts. Starts from the widest barrier but has the class edge. KINGMAN (8) scored his third win in five starts for Luke McCarthy when he worked forward from this barrier to find the front before scoring by 5.7m last start. Up in distance but has recorded two wins and a placing from three attempts. Danger. BEACH BALL (6) showed speed and stuck on okay in last week's resuming fourth. He'll be improved and the longer distance should work in his favour. RAVISHING SLOY (5) jumps in grade but showed improvement when runner up here last week. Wouldn't shock to see KANENA PROVLIMA (3) in the first four from a low draw.

Race 4: CLUB MENANGLE WARATAH FINAL

MIKIBEQUICK (8) did a good job to come from a wide barrier and miss narrowly when he placed at this circuit and distance last start. Had won three of his previous four starts including back-to-back Goulburn wins from similar draws to this. Racing well and looks nicely placed. Last-start winner OHOKA NICO (12) may need some luck from the outside barrier but he is going well having only once missed the top-two in his last six starts. Threat if things pan out his way. KIMCANDO (9) is another that draws wide but deserves respect having put a string of wins and placings together. MISTER POVERTY (5) comes to this circuit for the first time off back-to-back wins over the distance at Newcastle. Include. Last-start winner THE CID (4) draws to play a role.

Race 5:  CLUB MENANGLE FRITH LADYSHIP STAKES (LISTED CLASSIC)

SOHO AMERICANO (10) makes her first appearance since a Queensland Oaks win in July but she has finished top-three in all of her fresh attempts and was readied with a close second to Swayzee at the trials. Has to overcome the widest barrier but she is reliable and has yet to miss a place in six starts here, winning three. LUX AETERNA (9) has had a let-up since a Brisbane campaign but her form there was good including an Albion Park win and a fourth in the Golden Girl. Has won six of nine at this circuit and distance and her gate speed will help offset the wide barrier. Last-start placegetter BELLA DANZA (8) led from this barrier when she scored a Listed win here earlier in her campaign so expect her to be prominent. THE ANSWER (4) tackles a stronger line-up but has been making good progress with three wins from her last five starts, all from wider barriers. GOLDEN FIRE (6) makes her first visit to Sydney but brings good form, winning her last two at Albion Park. Could measure up.

Race 6:  WARDS ACCOUNTING GROUP PACE

HUTA (2) made a winning start for the Grimson stable when he led from a wider barrier to score by more than 6m at this circuit and distance. Goes up in grade but has the speed to take advantage of the low draw. VINKE B (3) has the hoof on the till after back-to-back seconds from wider barriers including a nose defeat the last time he attempted this distance. The good draw gives him the chance to go one better. JORDY (9) draws wide but hasn't been far away of late including a placing last week. Go well again. MONTEFIORE (4) wasn't far from the placegetters last start and draws lower so can be competitive along with RAGING SEA (5) who overcame a back row draw to find winning form at Bathurst last start.

Race 7: TAB WE'RE ON PACE

GOLLY GEE FELLAS (4) will be nearing peak fitness following three starts off a lengthy spell and draws much better than when midfield last start. Will enjoy racing over the mile for the first time this campaign as she has won three of the four times she has attempted it here including last year's Breeders Challenge 3F Final. Can show her best tonight. SPIRIT OF ANARCHY (3) has yet to win in four starts since crossing from NZ but looks ready to strike after back-to-back seconds. Threat from a good draw. HES A MEISTER (5) was held up last start but did a good job to place here prior so is worth another chance. DANGEROUS THREATS (7) has been unplaced but not too far away of late and owns a decent record at this distance. CAPTAIN BLOOD (6) was hampered by a flat tyre last start but there was merit in his prior effort when runner-up here.

Race 8: SUCCESS STUD - SPELLING HORSE SERVICES TROTTERS MOBILE

PARISIAN ARTISTE (6) will be fitter for last week's resuming fifth from a 10m handicap and was good in the Inter Dominion series last campaign where he beat subsequent final winner Arcee Phoenix when winning a heat. Suited dropping to the mile having won two of three attempts and looks nicely placed. Manners can be costly for CONSTANTINOPLE (5) but he was solid when runner-up last start despite racing roughly and pacing. Easy trial winner since and is good enough with his A-game. RAKERO BLAZE (8) galloped from the standing start last week but had recorded three wins and a placing from her previous five outings here so is worth another chance returning to a mobile start. RUN FOREST RUN (1) started favourite but broke and finished fourth at his local debut. Could feature from the ace draw while SPEEDY LOVER (7) deserves some respect after finding winning form here on Monday.

BEST BETS:

Race 7 #4 Golly Gee Fellas – Fitter for recent racing and will relish the drop to the mile.

Race 8 #6 Parisian Artiste – Will be improved second up and owns a strong record at the distance.
