Monday’s French banker of the day is a colt with plenty of experience, looking to capitalise on his first run in these conditions…
Aleksine (Maxime Guyon/Francois Monfort)
Chantilly – R5 – Prix de Raray
- Dual winner over 1600m trying these conditions for the first time
- In good form
- Will be suited by likely strong pace in twelve-runner field
The 1600m claimer at Chantilly features horses of different experience levels and Aleksine's nineteen-race career could play to his advantage. The three-year-old holds a fair record with two wins and six places (42% place strike rate) and he remains unexposed in these conditions. Whilst he has won and placed at both the distance and course, Aleksine has yet to tackle the 1600m at Chantilly as a combination – an interesting angle for possible improvement. The son of Mehmas shaped better than the bare result when two-and-a-half lengths sixth at Clairefontaine on his previous start and a strong pace is sure to suit. His best performances have come when able to sit behind the front three and with Maxime Guyon aboard again, this colt has the potential to add another victory to his tally.
