Thursday’s French banker of the day is a hurdler looking to rediscover an incredible debut performance in one of Auteuil’s feature races of the day
Matin Midi Et Soir (Francois Nicolle/Kevin Nabet) Auteuil – R2 – Prix Robert Lejune (Gr.3)
- Impressive debut performance
- Form has worked out from previous performance
- Represents top jumps stable
Back in March, it looked like François Nicolle discovered a brand new French jumping talent as Matin Midi Et Soir romped home at Auteuil by 13 lengths.
He was immediately stepped up in grade and was given a front-running role in the Prix Le Parisien (Gr.3), but was beaten, in a shock, by the newcomer Leopard Du Berlais.
He still toughed it out to be half-a-length ahead of Midnight Cowboy, but it's almost as if some have forgotten that impressive debut.
The form from the Prix Le Parisien has started to work out, with the fourth-placed Lotus Vert winning on his seasonal reappearance eight days ago in a Listed contest at this venue.
Francois Nicolle and Kevin Nabet are still a feared pair when it comes to big jumps races in France, while Nabet was operating at a 26% strike rate during the summer.
Expect Matin Midi Et Soir to reappear in the same form that we first saw him at Auteuil and firmly put his name in the conversation this season.
