Friday’s French banker comes at Fontainebleau with a consistent six-year-old mare.

Aira (Sylvain Maurer /Maël Le Callonec)
Fontainebleau – Race 9 - Prix de la Malmontagne
- Consistent record this year
- Low draw and proven over the distance
A consistent mare, Aira has already struck twice in 2025 alongside five further placings including when successful over this trip in a Longchamp handicap in May.
The 1kg rise in the weights she received for her Longchamp success wasn't enough to prevent the follow up at Nort-sur-Erdre a month later, while she's maintained that solid level of form with a good second in handicap company over further at Vichy before once again filling the frame over a mile and a half at the same venue last month.
The form of her latest third-place finish at Vichy has worked out nicely with the winner going on to follow-up at Les Sables-d'Olonne last week and with Got Shine the only last time out winner in the line, this looks like a good bit of placing by trainer Sylvain Maurer for this proven six-year-old to regain the winning thread.
