French banker of the day - 8th November 2025

Saturday’s French banker of the day is a promising colt whose win at Toulouse has received a significant form boost…

Hottot (Aurelien Lemaitre/Christopher Head)
Chantilly – R1 – Prix de Troissy

  • Win at Toulouse given significant form boost
  • Improving with each run
  • Can race prominently if lack of pace

With debut winner Maintain likely to start favourite in a competitive 1600m maiden, the eye is taken by the Christopher Head-trained Hottot as viable opposition.

A well-beaten third on his first outing at Longchamp over 1600m, the son of Almanzor showed considerable improvement to win a lower-grade Toulouse maiden. It was a strong performance, with jockey Aurelien Lemaitre settling the colt in a prominent position before going forward in the final 200m to win by a length.

The form has been subsequently boosted with both the second, Muenchen and the third, Le Doc winning again. Whilst the colt returns to tougher competition, but has already displayed enough ability to suggest it is well within his capabilities. Hailing from a maternal Aga Khan pedigree, the colt has a smart page and a Class 2 success should prove achievable.
