French Banker - 7th December

Sunday’s French Banker is a well-bred son of Kingman who can get back on track this afternoon.

Millar (Edouard Monfort / Mael Le Callonec)
Lyon-La-Soie – R7 – Prix Chambotte

  • Broke his maiden at the fourth attempt in September.
  • Asked a tough question in Listed company at Chantilly last time.

Millar looks ready to resume his progress after a tough experience at Chantilly in October. The son of Kingman was unfortunate not to win on debut last year and then posted three consecutive runner-up efforts between September 2024 and August 2025. Former trainer André Fabre eventually found the right opportunity for him to shed his maiden tag at Compiègne in September.

Raised in grade for the Grand Prix du Nord next time, he was outclassed in Listed company and could manage only seventh. Since then, connections have switched him to the yard of Edouard Monfort, who appears to have found a more suitable contest to rebuild his confidence.

Millar is out of Soudania, a four-time winner for Freddy Head, including success in the Group 3 Prix du Prince d'Orange. He is the second foal to race and the only winner so far. Soudania is a full sister to Sahelian and a half-sister to five winners, notably Italian Group 1 scorer Sortilege.

Millar retains a progressive profile and should be capable of getting his career firmly back on track now eased in grade.
