Today's racing in South Korea

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (6f) Special Weight A / $22,000

Fillies only in this maiden. (2) QUEEN OF DRAGON will be the hot favourite. Having put in two good trials she was well supported on debut over 6f on April 19th and finished 2nd to the favourite, King Dragon. She has had eleven weeks off since then but should have come on for the run and from a good draw and against modest opposition, can win. (8) HAERANG JINJU has a 2nd and a 3rd from her latest two, both at 6 1/2f and both times racing handy. She shapes as a potential danger here. (5) GUKDAE MIRACLE has raced twice, finishing 3rd on both occasions in similar all-filly fields and should be there or thereabouts again. (9) SPECIAL MATE and (4) GREEN BULLDOZER others who can improve.

Selections   (2) Queen Of Dragon (8) Haerang Jinju (5) Gukdae Miracle (9) Special Mate
Next Best   4, 6
Fast Start   2, 3, 5, 9

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (7f) Special Weight A / $22,000

(10) SEOBU CAPTAIN has done most of his recent work over a mile including a last start 4th place on June 7th that suggests he is coming into some form. His solitary place was a 3rd over this distance, and he has as good a chance as any in this competitive affair. (4) B.K. MARON comes in off a best to date 4th place on May 31st over this distance when overcoming gate eleven to work home very well. He gets a better draw here, Franco climbs on, and he can be aiming to get closer this time. That may mean overturning the form on (8) AMAZING MOVE, who ran 2nd in that May 31st race when handy throughout. Tanaka remains aboard and he can be in the mix again. (6) OAK RIDGE mixes his form but going on his 2nd place at 6 1/2f two starts back has to be a live contender here. (11) RAON STROKE another in the hunt.

Selections   (10) Seobu Captain (4) B.K. Maron (8) Amazing Move (6) Oak Ridge
Next Best   11, 5
Fast Start   5, 6, 8, 9

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (6f) Special Weight A / $22,000

Tricky opener in the capital with not a huge amount of form to go on. (4) SERGEANT LIGHT perhaps has the most upside after back-to-back 5th places from his first two starts, both over this distance and in fair times. Both races were in probably tougher company than this and from a good draw, he can sit behind the early leaders and can prove too strong. (2) MAGIC SOUND has three consecutive 5th places from her latest three and while up in the weights, she draws well and in this modest company can be going better. Continuing on the theme of finishing 5th, that's where (5) CAPTAIN MUSIC was on his debut on April 13th, having raced handy over this distance. He has had twelve weeks off since but should have derived benefit from the experience and can be in the mix here. Without a huge among of confidence, (6) YUSUBUJAENGSEON and (7) ARCH ROCKET are other possibles in a race that something has to win.

Selections   (4) Sergeant Light (2) Magic Sound (5) Captain Music (6) Yusubujaengseon
Next Best   7, 9
Fast Start   2, 5, 8, 9

Busan Race 3: Class 5 (7f) Handicap / $32,000

(1) YEONGGWANGUITOUCH has been working his way back towards a second win and enters off a runner-up finish in a quick time over 6 1/2f on June 7th when coming from well off the pace. He previously has a 2nd place at this distance too and with Masa climbing up, he can go one better today. (9) HAERANG YOUNGUNG is up in class having secured his maiden win at start number eight at 6 1/2f on June 7th when leading all the way around. That was his first start since February, and he can strip fitter for it. Down in the weights, he is firmly in the hunt. (11) GUKDAE STAR was 3rd behind Yeonggwanguitouch in that June 7th race and while he has the challenge of the widest gate, can go close again. (3) WONDERFUL CHEROKEE and (10) HANAEUL HAETSAL others in the minor money frame.

Selections   (1) Yeonggwanguitouch (9) Haerang Youngung (11) Gukdae Star (3) Wonderful Cherokee
Next Best   10, 6
Fast Start   1, 2, 6, 10

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (6 1/2f) Special Weight A / $22,000

(8) YEONGUNG JARYONG ran 4th on debut in May before following up with a 2nd place at start number two over 6f on June 8th, racing handy throughout. Moon Se-young stays up, he should be on pace, and it can be third time lucky. (4) HANGANG CAPTAIN did nothing in his first two starts but reappeared in May after four months out looking a much better prospect, winning a trial before running 5th and 2nd in two starts back with the latter coming over this distance on June 16th. In this company and from this gate, he can be expected to be on or close to the speed, and third-up this preparation, he can be peaking fitness-wise. (2) WONDERFUL TECHNO was a promising 3rd on debut at this distance on June 9th, coming from off the pace, and should have derived benefit from the experience. (10) POSEIDON BLUE and (3) RAON THE KLAMMER among plenty of others with placing chances.

Selections   (8) Yeongung Jaryong (4) Hangang Captain (2) Wonderful Techno (10) Poseidon Blue
Next Best   3, 5
Fast Start   1, 4, 8, 11

Busan Race 4: Class 5 (6f) Handicap / $32,000

(11) LET THEM ALL COME broke through in impressive fashion at start number three on May 24th, leading all the way to score over this distance in a good time. He comes up in class but that shouldn't be an issue and he overcame the same wide gate when he won. If he can get a forward position, he will take some beating. (6) SANGIM BOLT mixes his form, but he was a class and distance winner as recently as May 24th, when handy all the way and running on. He carries 3kg more than the mark he won off but should be competitive here. (1) SAENAE HIT has two 3rd places among her latest three, including last time out at 6 1/2f on June 16th. She remains under a light weight but draws better and can go close. Up in class last start winner (7) DORAON ZETTA along with (9) SINHAE MANGCHI are others in the hunt.

Selections   (11) Let Them All Come (6) Sangim Bolt (1) Saenae Hit (7) Doraon Zetta
Next Best   9, 5
Fast Start   4, 6, 9, 11

Seoul Race 3: Class 5 (6 1/2f) Handicap / $32,000

No fewer than five last start winners among this lot. (7) CHEONJANGSA made steady progress to get his maiden win at the third time of asking over this distance on June 1st. He comes up in class here and while he doesn't get much in the way of a weight break, he can be on pace and in the thick of things again. It's a similar story with (5) BEST WHIZ, who broke through on May 12th at stat number five from on the pace at this distance. He too should be challenging right from the start here and Moon Se-young staying up may mean he starts the favourite. (6) TONNERRE races for the first time since getting his maiden win at 7f in April. He looked well in a June trial and can be competitive. (9) QUEEN ABIGAIL and (11) SEOBU CHAMP are among plenty of others in this competitive race.

Selections   (7) Cheonjangsa (5) Best Whiz (6) Tonerre (9) Queen Abigail
Next Best   11, 10
Fast Start   3, 5, 6, 7

Busan Race 5: Class 5 (1M) Handicap / $32,000

It's hard to go past (1) DOCTOR WICKY here. A winner of just one from fifteen so far, he comes in off back-to-back runner-up finishes over 6 1/2f and 7f from his latest two, having raced on pace both times. He carries his fair share of weight, but that's balanced by the inside draw and with that solitary win having come at this distance, he is the one to beat. Logical second pick is (5) STORMY DAY. It took twenty-six starts for him to exit class 6, but he did it with a win at this distance in May and enters having shown he can measure up at the softer end of class 5 with a 3rd place, again at a mile, on June 21st. They return here while the iron is, if not hot than at least lukewarm, and he can be close. (2) STAR PARK is winless and up in class, but he does have the fastest time of any of these for the distance and that's enough to allow him to be considered. (3) HWARANG ACE and (9) UNJU LEGEND are other placing chances.

Selections   (1) Doctor Wicky (5) Stormy Day (2) Star Park (3) Hwarang Ace
Next Best   9, 6
Fast Start   1, 3, 4, 9

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1 1/16M) Handicap / $32,000

Another competitive race. (7) NAOL INDY got his maiden win at the fourth time of asking over 6 1/2f on May 26th leading all the way around before following up with a fair 4th over the same distance on his first try at this class on June 15th. He comes up to the two-turns for the first time and it may well suit. (6) HIGH BORN ME was a winner at this class over 7f on June 8th, finally breaking through at start fifteen. He comes up 3kg in the weights, but he ran a solid 4th over this distance in May and he shapes as a big danger again. (2) P N S CAR is yet to win but has three runner-up finishes, including behind High Born Me on June 8th. He likes to settle back and run on and a return to 1 1/16M could be good for him. (10) GOLD MUNGCHI and (8) BEAT YEONGUNG others in the frame.

Selections   (7) Naol Indy (6) High Born Me (2) P N S Car (10) Gold Mungchi
Next Best   8, 3
Fast Start   1, 4, 5, 7

Busan Race 6: Class 4 (1M Handicap / $43,000

(1) MR.KEYMAN was a winner over 7f at this class on May 31st when stalking the lead for most of the way and proving too strong. Up in class but nicely drawn to be up with the leaders early again, the step up to a mile can suit. (8) GRAY QUEEN came up to this class for the first time on June 7th and ran a very good 2nd place over 7f, settling midfield and running on strongly. She comes up 2kg in the weights but can be competitive again. (3) GIANT MARINE is a winner of two of his last three and comes up in class having won over 7f on June 7th with a front-running effort. He is another who draws well and should be in the mix. (6) DOCTOR CAPTAIN and (10) JANGSAN LEMON among others in the hunt.

Selections   (1) Mr.Keyman (8) Gray Queen (3) Giant Marine (6) Doctor Captain
Next Best   10, 9
Fast Start   1, 3, 4, 5

Seoul Race 5: Class 4 (7f) Handicap / $43,000

(6) YONGAM SESANG comes rapidly up in class having won starts two and three in May and early June, both over 6 1/2f. He tackles the 7f for the first time, but his flexible running style suggests it can suit, he comes down slightly in the weights, and there is plenty to like. (8) STARTER comes out of the first two legs of the Triple Tiara where she ran 7th in the Luna Stakes and 8th in the Oaks. She is a winner at this class and distance already and returning to shallower waters, she will be a strong contender. (7) URUS KHAN has finished no worse than 3rd in five starts so far and has a 3rd and a 2nd in two efforts at this level. He is another who runs well on pace or from behind and is a danger. (4) GEOMIBULU and (10) RAON THE DAESE among plenty of others with money hopes.

Selections   (6) Yongam Sesang (8) Starter (7) Urus Khan (4) Geomibulu
Next Best   10, 11
Fast Start   4, 6, 7, 8

Busan Race 7: Class 4 (7f) Handicap / $43,000

(1) AMAZING BOSS was an also-ran in the Korean Oaks before running a slightly sub-par 5th at his class and distance on June 7th. She has won at this distance; she draws nicely under a light wright and Franco – who is two for two on her – climbing back on can make the difference. (3) ONEULISUNGAN comes rapidly up in class having won starts three and four, both over 6 1/2f. His running style suggests the slightly extended trip can suit and down in the weights and drawn nicely, he shapes as the main danger. (10) STRIKE ZONE returned from almost five months out to run 2nd at this class over 6f. That brings him up in class, but he is down a full 4kg in the weights, and he can strip fitter today. (9) ADELE BOSS and (4) SEOGWI FLASH are other place chances.

Selections   (1) Amazing Boss (3) Oneulisungan (10) Strike Zone (9) Adele Boss
Next Best   4, 7
Fast Start   5, 6, 8, 10

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (6 1/2f) Handicap / $43,000

Two standouts here. (7) SPALTA took a couple of runs to figure things out but has a win and three runner-up finishes from his latest four, most recently at this distance on June 1st. He comes up in class here but is down a full 4kg in the weights, and in this company should be on pace and can go all the way. (5) DALMAJI enters with recent form reading well including two placings at this class over a mile. He comes back to the 6 1/2f for the first time in a while, but he has won over it, and he shapes as the main danger. Clear third pick is (1) WONPYEONG TOWN. He doesn't exactly win out of turn but comes in following a smart 2nd place at class and distance on June 9th and can be in the mix again here. Given the patchy form of the rest, debuting US import (6) ULTRA THUNDER can be given consideration. The Cross Traffic colt was slow away on his trial but ran on well. (2) KLIMT WORLD one who may improve.

Selections   (7) Spalta (5) Dalmaji (1) Wonpyeong Town (6) Ultra Thunder
Next Best   2, 8
Fast Start   1, 7, 8, 11

Busan Race 8: Class 3 (1 1/8M) Handicap / $54,000

(2) BEOLMAUI YEONGUNG won his first two over a sprint trip and while he took a couple of goes to get acquainted with this level, he was a front-running 2nd over a mile on his latest outing back in March. He comes in here fresh and without a trial after sixteen weeks off and he tackles two turns for the first time, but he has loads of potential and can win first-up. (8) JANGSAN DEFI scored over this distance on June 2nd racing on pace throughout. She is up in class but down a full 3kg in the weights and she can measure up. (1) RAON THE POWER has been working his way back into form and was a solid 2nd at this class over a mile on May 24th. He likes to come from off the pace and Franco staying up is a plus. (5) DEMON SPY and (10) MUDEUNGSAN are the other placing chances.

Selections   (2) Beolmaui Yeongung (8) Jangsan Defi (1) Raon The Power (5) Demon Spy
Next Best   10, 7
Fast Start   2, 3, 8, 10

Seoul Race 7: Class 3 (6f) Handicap / $54,000

Another very tricky race. (3) GIANT PUNCH is slightly frustrating in that he is very talented but also hard to catch. He comes in off back-to-back 4th places, most recently when sent off as the favourite at this class and distance on June 1st. He is nicely weighted and drawn, and we'll take a chance on him again. (2) HAENGBOKAN MUNMAK was the winner of that June 1st race, coming from well off the pace to swoop. He comes up 2kg in the weights but warrants respect. (4) OKCHEON SNIPER comes up in class having made all to win over 6 1/2f on May 18th. He is down in the weights, draws well, and can measure up. So too can (7) CHEONGPAUI KKUM. He has won two of his latest three to get promoted and is another down in the weights and set to be on the speed. (1) HIGH RUNNER was 2nd in the June 1st race and is a place chance again.

Selections   (3) Giant Punch (2) Haengbokan Munmak (4) Okcheon Sniper (7) Cheongpaui Kkum
Next Best   1, 9
Fast Start   4, 7, 8, 10

Busan Race 9: Class 1 (6f) Special Weight B / $80,000

(1) GANGSEO GIANT comes off the Queens' Tour where she ran 2nd in both the Ttukseom Cup at 7f and the KNN Cup over a mile. This will be her first time at as short as six-furlongs for a long time, but she has won over it and from the inside gate and under a light weight, she is the one to beat. The danger is (9) MAN OF THE YEAR. He returned from almost a year off to run 3rd over 7f at this class on June 9th, beating a few of today's rivals in the process. He should strip fitter for that run and can be close again here. (8) BEOLGYOUI KKUM dipped a hoof in the deep end in the SROA Chairman's Sprint in May. That didn't go well but he is back in the shallow end here and looks very nicely in. (10) WINNING DANCER and (3) MIRACLE DREAMING are others to consider.

Selections   (1) Gangseo Giant (9) Man Of The Year (8) Beolgyoui Kkum (10) Winning Dancer
Next Best   3, 6
Fast Start   5, 6, 9, 11

Seoul Race 8: Class 1 (1 1/4M) Handicap / $80,000

(11) NAOL SNIPER is a two-time winner over 1 1/4M, most recently at this class at the start of May. He was beaten into 2nd over 1 1/8M on June 2nd but back up a furlong and with Moon Se-young returning, he is the one to beat. (6) TIZ BAROWS won that June 2nd race, having been handy throughout. That marked a return to form, and he can back it up today. (7) GANGPUNGMA comes in having won the Listed Sports Chosun Trophy (a race won by Tiz Barows last year) over this distance on May 19th. He is a winner of six from eleven so far and enters regular class 1 for the first time under a light weight and with solid chances. (3) CHIEF INDY and (5) MIGHTY NEW are others in the frame.

Selections   (11) Naol Sniper (6) Tiz Barows (7) Gangpungma (3) Chief Indy
Next Best   5, 2
Fast Start   2, 5, 6, 11
