Fairview - Friday, 31 October

Race 1
Race Summary:
An interesting start for this big meeting. CLOUDS CLEARING has held her form in the Western Cape and could prove too good for the local runners. TWO FOR THE BOYS is capable of improvement. KHICHDI races without blinkers this time around and could be the surprise package of the race. BOMBER BAY is battling to win a race but can contest the finish. OUTBACK EXPRESS is capable of better than his last run would suggest and can earn some money. GREY WARRIOR is back on the grass and is not out of it. PICK A POMODORO and GLOBAL SCENE have been consistent of late but are battling to win. SEAFARER is capable of improvement.

Selections:

#11 Clouds Clearing, #6 Outback Express, #7 Grey Warrior, #3 Bomber Bay

Race 2
Race Summary:
ROYAL CITY GIRL has ability and deserves another winning turn so gets the vote to score. Trainer Alan Greeff had a big meeting last Friday and should have another decent day. SILVA CITY represents his best chance in this race and she is improving, coming off a good third-place finish. SILVAN MISTRESS and NORTH STAR were both not disgraced in their latest starts and are decent back-up for Greeff. EAST COAST GIRL has impressed with some easy wins on the Polytrack but she will need to show she is as good on the grass.

Selections:

#4 Royal City Girl, #1 Silva City, #2 East Coast Girl, #3 Silvan Mistress

Race 3
Race Summary:
A competitive maiden plate. HEAVENLY MAFIA has some fair Western Cape form and should make a bold bid at beating these rivals from pole position draw. DESERT CLOUD has been unlucky not to win either of her last two starts. Blinkers have now been fitted. LOTUS SILK has run well in both her starts and should not be long in winning a race. LANA VIEW, AM STILL WINNING and CELTIQUE have improved of late and are capable of playing minor roles. So too, for that matter, is WELSH STARLET.

Selections:

#8 Heavenly Mafia, #10 Lotus Silk, #1 Desert Cloud, #2 Lana View

Race 4
Race Summary:
A cracking race. Trainer Dean Smith has two quality sprinters. CRUISE CONTROL has not been at his best in his travels but is back at his home track. He is very speedy, goes well for jockey Louie Mxothwa and can bounce back to score but he does bump the impressive KINGDUNDEE. This improving sprinter has won 6 of his 9 starts and is at very best over this distance. Stable jockey Craig Zackey rides and they look hard to oppose. ANUSCHKA'S WORLD and stable companion ROMAN AGENT are also capable of getting involved with the finish.

Selections:

#2 Kingdundee, #1 Cruise Control, #3 Anuschka's World, #5 Roman Agent

Race 5
Race Summary:
SPORTS FAN and DANISH DYNAMITE are both very speedy three-year-old fillies. SPORTS FAN had the benefit of experience when beating DANISH DYNAMITE so there should be very little between the two of them again. ALESIA'S LOVE was not disgraced on local debut and could earn some money. KINGS AGAIN and PRISCILLA MAISEY seem better than they showed last time and have place chances. POLYNOMIAL made good late progress last time out and can earn some money.

Selections:

#6 Sports Fan, #1 Danish Dynamite, #4 Priscilla Maisey, #5 Polynomial

Race 6
Race Summary:
A competitive handicap. COMMANDING has been consistent in handicaps in the Western Cape and that form is usually good enough to win at this centre. EL CAPITAN has improved at this centre and could be a threat yet again. DAS GUTE has a powerful finish when in the mood and is not out of it in this line-up. THUNDER MASTER is not an easy ride but has three runner-up performances in a row and deserves a winning turn. It might pay to include MR BELVEDERE and PORFIRIO in the exotics.

Selections:

#4 Commanding, #1 El Capitan, #5 Thunder Master, #2 Das Gute

Race 7
Race Summary:
The highlight of the Eastern Cape Season, the Betway Algoa Cup. MY BEST SHOT showed he is back to his best with another good win. This distance suits him better and he is the one to beat. He does, however, have to give weight to his rivals. HOLDING THUMBS is at his very best over further but is in top form and should challenge for top honours. Trainer Justin Snaith has two decent runners in the form of ARDABIL and PLEASE BE TRUE. They are up in class but are talented and not out of it.

Selections:

#1 My Best Shot, #3 Holding Thumbs, #12 Please Be True, #8 Ardabil

Race 8
Race Summary:
A tough end to this card. ROCK OF FUTURA was not disgraced when unplaced in a better race than this last time out. He could pop up at decent odds. KING VISERYS did not show his best last time out but had some nice wins before that and must be considered a possible winner. BLACKBERRY BREEZE has some fair form and has a place chance. TOKYO MEDAGLIA is capable of improvement and could play a minor role. FLASH LIGHTNING and GOLDEN ANGEL are both in good shape and would not be surprise winners. GOLDEN GREY is better than his last run and is another to consider.

Selections:

#9 Rock Of Futura, #10 Golden Angel, #8 Cheerful Charlie B, #7 Golden Grey

Best Win: #2 KINGDUNDEE

Best Value Bet:

Best Longshot: #9 ROCK OF FUTURA
