Three-time Group 1 winner Nashwa has been retired to stud following her final career run at Ascot. The daughter of Frankel, who was a Classic winner in France winning the Group 1 Prix de Diane in 2022, also won the 2022 Group 1 Nassau Stakes and 2023 Falmouth Stakes on the July course at Newmarket. Those wins helped her yield £1.7 million in prize money in her racing career. She will now stand as a broodmare at Blue Diamond Stud. But all is not over for the family of Nashwa, as younger brother Nebras is set to make an appearance in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster on Saturday.

Irish Point has been ruled out for the 2024/25 jumps season. Trainer Gordon Elliott announced on Tuesday that the 2024 Champion Hurdle runner-up suffered a setback which has ruled him out for much of the season. He was expected to be aimed towards the Grade 1 Stayers' Hurdle at next year's Cheltenham Festival, with bookmakers making him as short as 7/1. The injury is understood not to be career-threatening, and we will likely see him back on a racecourse in late 2025. The son of Joshua Tree excelled last season, winning the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown, before his impressive performance at the Cheltenham Festival.

Newbury's final flat card of the season is currently under threat. A wet forecast is predicted for the Berkshire track this week, with the two-day meeting scheduled to take place on Friday. The course has taken 240mm of rain in the last six weeks, with a possible 6mm of rain in the run-up to the start of the meeting. Newbury's final meeting is set to feature the Group 3 Horris Hill for the two-year-olds and the Group 3 St Simon Stakes for the older horses.

Kinross is unlikely to run in sprints next year according to connections. The multiple Group 1 winner won the Qipco British Champion Sprint Stakes back in 2022 and was a close second in 2023, before failing to place in this year's contest. The now seven-year-old is most likely to run in races ranging from seven furlongs to a mile. The son of Kingman won the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster, before finishing second behind Ramatuelle in the Group 1 Prix la Foret at Longchamp when bidding to regain his title.
