Expensive Irish point purchase Flash In The Park won by a narrow margin last time over this track and trip, but still makes plenty of appeal in the 2m4f Willis Cooper Chartered Accountants Handicap Chase (13:30) at Uttoxeter on Friday.

While only a short head clear on that occasion, a career best speed figure of 90 (ATR) registered would suggest that the six-year-old is on an upward trajectory. In terms of the sectional times, the gelding's finishing speed was quite impressive, crossing the line at 26.17mph - putting more of a shine on a performance that was not particularly taking visually. A four pound rise from the handicapper could prove generous.

A change of yards to Dan Skelton and a switch to fences could be the catalyst for his upturn in form. The aforementioned handler is currently operating at a strike rate of 23% over the past two weeks and the continued application of headgear seems to be promoting improvement.

While stepping up in class, the current odds of 15/8 could represent some value.

FLASH IN THE PARK – WIN – 15/8

Lightly raced two-year-old Farandaway went in the tracker after finishing runner-up last time, and is taken to go one better in the 5f Best Racing Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Novice Stakes at Southwell on Friday.

The last run over course and distance seemed to imply that Grant Tuer's gelding had taken a step forward – a view reinforced in the sectionals. The son of Far Above had a quicker finishing speed than any other runner in the field, earning him a speed rating of 74 (ATR).

Having finished second on all four starts, it would take only a marginal amount of improvement to open his account on this occasion. The price of 2/1 appears fair given his scope to progress again in this company.

FARANDAWAY – WIN – 2/1
