‘His handler has a remarkable record at this venue with three-year-old’s’- Sam King’s daily wagers

Sam King tipped Popeye Doyle to strike at Kempton yesterday and returns with two selections on Tuesday.

It looked as though Ivatt was going to provide us with two winning selections yesterday, but he ultimately came up short against a beautifully bred type of Charlie Appleby's. However, Popeye Doyle was fully in command under Cieran Fallon to ensure a victory from yesterday's two selections and I'm hopeful to have found a couple more that can strike this afternoon.

The prospect of Hamilton and Carlisle featuring among the three meetings on offer on Tuesday would mean a typically quiet day for Newmarket-based handlers. That said, there are still a few trainers that are happy to make the long journey north, one of whom, William Haggas has become well-known with his runners at Hamilton.

When it comes to current form, few stables are enjoying the purple patch that Mr Haggas is having at present, with sixteen runners from his last 48 runners over the last fortnight, while his last three have also all found the winners' enclosure.

Golden Horse should make that four on the bounce when he travels all the way to Scotland for his second racecourse appearance in the Hamilton maiden, but he's not much of a betting proposition and instead it's his stablemate, Noble Horizon, that makes the appeal in the following handicap at 7.10.

A well-bred son of Kingman who is a half-brother to six winners, including the Group 3 scorer Thunder Drum, Noble Horizon looked as though he was becoming frustrating having failed to break the maiden tag in his first four outings.

That said, he bumped into some promising types along the way, finishing fourth behind Bowmark (103) on debut, third behind Bedouin Prince (104) second time out, before filling the runner-up spot behind Rogue Millions (96) and I Am I Said (96).

He duly got the job done when having his sights lowered at Leicester in July, putting up a polished performance from the front to stretch four and a half length clear of the now 82-rated Sky Advocate.

William Haggas' charge quickened up nicely off the front end that day and while this is by no means a penalty kick now that the handicapper has put him up 3lb to a mark of 87 for his handicap debut, it remains tough to get away from the fact that his handler has a remarkable record at this venue with three-year-olds.

Haggas has sent 21 three-year-olds to Hamilton in the last five years, with eight finding the winners' position, seven claiming the silver medal and a further three coming home in third.

His latest contender Noble Horizon looks set to take another step forward and can add to the tally this evening under Tom Marquand.

2pt Win – Noble Horizon

Odds – 11/4

There is nothing original about my second selection of the day either, which comes in the seven-furlong handicap at Carlisle (4.25).

Trainer Dylan Cunha is having another solid season since moving to these shores and it could well be worth continuing to side with his hat-trick-seeking Gorgeous Mr George.

Cunha has only sent two horses to Carlisle in the past and although neither have found the winners' enclosure, it's unlikely that his latest contender is making the lengthy trip to Cumbria for a routine spin.

After consistently knocking on the door earlier in the season, Gorgeous Mr George finally claimed that elusive first success when scoring snugly at Yarmouth in July. As far as Class 6 handicaps go, the form of those towards the fore has held up well, with the runner-up filling the same position on his next to starts, while the third-place horse got the better of that rival when they met at Leicester two days ago.

Returned to Yarmouth 25 days later, Dylan Cunha's three-year-old once again struck gold under a confident Kyle Strydom ride, travelling strongly into proceedings before sticking it out well in the closing stages.

This intermediate seven-furlong trip looks to bring the best out in the three-year-old son of Galileo Gold, and with further progress on the cards, he looks primed to complete the hat-trick under Kyle Strydom, who heads to Carlisle for the first ever time to take this sole ride.

1pt Win - Gorgeous Mr George

Odds – 7/2
