William Haggas has revealed that Economics is unlikely to be seen on European soil this season as he continues on a lengthy recovery.
A high-class winner of both the Dante Stakes and Irish Champion Stakes last season, Economics has not been seen since finishing sixth behind Anmaat in the Qipco Champion Stakes in October.
The now four-year-old son of Night Of Thunder had been aimed at a Royal Ascot return, although his recovery is taking longer than expected, with Haggas now more likely to aim at targets in the Middle East during the winter months for his reappearance.
Speaking on Sky Sports Racing, Haggas said: "He had an injury in the run up to Ascot and he's not going to make Ireland, I've taken him out of Ireland, but I've left him in the Champion Stakes,"
"I suspect he might not even be ready to run his best by then, so somewhere in the Middle East in the winter could be his first port of call."
Whilst Economics is unlikely to be seen in Europe this year, Haggas did confirm that he will stay in training next season.
He added: "I'm delighted to say his sporting owner has confirmed he's going to stay in training next year and I hope we'll get a clear run with him then.
"It's been a sensationally frustrating time for us with him."
