Sam King picks out some placepot selections for you at Kempton on Wednesday.
R1 – Project Incheon
R2 – Tierra Del Toro
R3 – Elashgar
R4 – Loblolly and Steel Drum
R5 – Sheriff's Court
R6 - Finalise
R1 - Unibet Zero% Mission Nursery – (17:15 UK)
There should be more to come from Project Incheon now that he steps into nurseries for the Archie Watson team. A son of Zoustar, Project Incheon has shown a fair level of ability, most recently finishing fourth in a Newcastle maiden last time out. He's been gelded subsequently and can find some improvement to be competitive off this opening mark of 60.
R2 - Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes – (17:50 UK)
It can prove wise to bank on the once-raced Tierra Del Toro here. Trained by Ralph Beckett, who won this with subsequent Sussex Stakes scorer Qirat in 2023, Tierra Del Toro shaped with bundles of promise when runner-up on debut in a decent Southwell novice event. This well-bred son of Lope de Vega should progress for that initial experience and looks banker material for the placepot.
R3 – Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes – (18:20 UK)
Those with experience don't exactly set a daunting standard so this could be fought out by newcomers. From a good draw in stall three, Elashgar looks to have the right profile to be involved at the business end for leading connections Shadwell. The Richard Hannon-trained son of Supremacy is a half-brother to the smart six-furlong performer half-brother to Barefoot Angel and represents a yard in fair form.
R4 – Try Unibet's New Improved Acca Boosts Nursery – (18:50 UK)
An absolute nightmare for placepot punters. All four in this tightly-knit nursery hold some form of claims, so it's advised to perm up both Loblolly and Steel Drum. The former finished an excellent runner-up to conceding 2lb to a horse now rated 91 at Chelmsford last time out and should have more to offer, while the latter shaped better than the bare result at Goodwood on heavy ground recently and will be suited by the return to this surface.
R5 - Unibet 40,000+ Live Streamed Events Handicap – (19:20 UK)
A wide-open handicap. Sheriff's Court was a touch disappointing last time but remains capable of better. He was a gutsy winner off a mark of 80 over a mile at Carlisle prior and should be suited by the return of 7lb apprentice Poppy Scott in the saddle. He represents a stable in fine form at present and ought to have things run to suit from a kind draw in gate four.
R6 - Unibet More Extra Place Races Restricted Novice Stakes (19:50 UK)
William Haggas is arguably the hottest trainer in the country at the moment and his filly, Finalise, looks fairly bombproof to be in the frame in the last leg of Kempton's placepot. Runner-up on her two outings to date, she's shown considerable promise over ten furlongs. This represents a step up in trip and with this daughter of Masar expected to find further progress, she can come out on top.
