Mill Reef's jockey Geoff Lewis passed away aged 89
Geoff Lewis, most famously associated with riding Mill Reef throughout his career, has died aged 89.
Lewis partnered Ian Balding's great colt to victory in the 1971 Epsom Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, while the pair also enjoyed success in the Dewhurst, King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Coral-Eclipse Stakes and Prix Ganay.
The Welsh-born rider furthermore tasted Classic glory on Right Tack in the 1969 2000 Guineas and partnered Tudor Monarch to victory in the 1959 Stewards' Cup for Sir Winston Churchill.
He went on to have a successful training career in Epsom, saddling Silver Wisp to finish third in the 1992 Derby and Lake Coniston to land the July Cup three years later.
Dashel Drasher retired from racing
Connections have revealed that Jeremy Scott's stable star Dashel Drasher has been retired from racing at the age of twelve.
The fan favourite enjoyed his finest day in the sun when winning the Grade 1 Ascot Chase in February 2021, while he also finished runner-up in the 2023 Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. He was demoted to third place by the stewards' that day but was reinstated to the runner-up spot following an appeal.
Dashel Drasher held a peak official rating of 162 throughout his career, won twelve of his 37 starts and won over £452,000 in prize money.
Daniel and Claire Kübler set for Bahrain move
The husband-and-wife training duo of Daniel and Claire Kübler have announced that they will relocate to Bahrain later in the year.
Currently based in Lambourn, Daniel and Claire Kübler are now preparing to 'scale back' their training operation at home to pursue an opportunity in Bahrain.
A statement from them said: "After five successful seasons training under a joint licence from our stables at Sarsen Farm in Lambourn, we have been given a remarkable opportunity to train for His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa and other members of the royal family in Bahrain and assist in developing a new training facility.
"We expect to begin training in Bahrain from October 2025, coinciding with the start of the 2025/26 season."
Well-fancied A Dream To Share ruled out of Cesarewitch by the BHA.
The JP McManus-owned A Dream To Share has been confirmed as ineligible for the Club Godolphin Cesarewitch by the BHA.
A winner of the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival and scorer of the corresponding race at Punchestown two years ago, A Dream To Share was the general second favourite for the feature handicap at Newmarket next month having won one of his three starts on the flat.
However, he is yet to attain an official handicap mark, making him ineligible due to the weights being published on August 19th.
