Placepot picks - 3rd September 2025

The team bring you placepot selections from Lingfield on Wednesday.

R1 - Bespoke Law Services Handicap – (13:35)

Letsbeatsepsis ran poorly on his only all-weather outing but there's no real reason to believe he shouldn't be effective on it. He shaped as though stepping up to a mile and a half would be within his compass when runner-up over ten furlongs at Epsom last time out and it's interesting that his stable won this twelve months ago. Gary and Josh Moore's contender takes on some out of sorts rivals here and should be right in the mix.

R2 – Carnegie Group Handicap – (14:05)

Motazzen completed a hat-trick over hurdles at the turn of the year before returning to the level with a shock 50/1 success at Southwell last time. That effort came following 228 days off the track, so it's easy to think that he'll come on for the outing, while he remains relatively unexposed on the flat after just ten starts. There could be more to come from this gelded son of Dubawi and with Cieren Fallon in the saddle once more, he ought to be firmly in the shake up.

R3 - OS Systems Handicap – (14:35)

Risen Again's record of one win from eighteen starts isn't completely compelling, but he's found the frame on a further six occasions and is a fairly solid prospect when it comes to placepots. He bounced right back to form when aa good three-quarter length second at Goodwood last time, staying on well having been short of room at the three-furlong marker. The return to this surface will not pose any problems and he can give a good account once more.

R4 – Brown & Brown Restricted Maiden Stakes – (15:05)

This looks like a nice opportunity for the James Fanshawe-trained What's The Plan, who shaped nicely when runner-up at Leicester on debut before arguably racing too free when third in a Haydock novice last time out. The application of a first-time hood looks like an interesting angle and with further improvement on the cards, James Fanshawe's son of Time Test could take some stopping.

R5 - Brown & Brown Restricted Maiden Stakes – (15:35)

The absence of Zabeel Flower, who was turned over at Chepstow yesterday, looks to have paved the way for the 81-rated Loblolly. He came clear with a progressive winner over a mile on his nursery debut at Kempton last time and should get off the mark now dropping back to seven furlongs in maiden company.

R6 – Insight6 Customer Experience Nursery – (16:05)

It looks tough to get away from Angels' Share here. William Knight's filly bolted up in a course and distance maiden recently and now enters nurseries under a 6lb penalty. Given the manner of her latest success, that might not be enough to stop her from going in again, especially as she might well be able to boss this from the front end under Marco Ghiani.
