Sam King is back with three selections on Tuesday.
I was unfortunately unable to keep the steady stream of winners flowing yesterday but am full of optimism that we can bounce back today.
There's no doubt that all eyes will be on the two exciting fillies' Zanthos and Touleen, who both look to preserve their unbeaten records in the seven-furlong novice at Leicester, but that looks like a watching brief to me and there are better wagering opportunities elsewhere.
On the same card, Brielle looks to hold outstanding claims in the penultimate ten-furlong fillies' handicap at 4.55.
The David O'Meara-trained three-year-old shaped nicely when runner-up behind a more experienced rival at Thirsk second time out, with the now 85-rated winner going on to boost the form on a couple of occasions since having scored twice in handicap company at Chester.
A ready success when she dropped back in trip at Hamilton in July was well-deserved and one that signified her ability to make a mark in some decent handicaps over the remainder of the year.
Whilst David O'Meara's filly failed to get seriously involved on her handicap debut, there's no doubt that it remained a promising effort as after racing keenly in the early stages, she kept on steadily to finish a respectable sixth in Class 2 company against more battle-hardened rivals at York's Ebor meeting.
This afternoon's task represents a clear drop in grade and with Rossa Ryan, who has been operating at a 20% strike rate at Leicester over the last five seasons, an eye-catching booking, she can double her career tally having been eased 1lb by the handicapper.
1pt Win – Brielle
Odds – 11/4
In the Class 6 nursery over seven furlongs, it could pay to take a chance on Stay Sharp, who now switches to a more realistic level for notable connections.
Trained by the all-conquering James Owen for the Gredley family, this nicely-bred daughter of Too Darn Hot had shown a modicum of ability in her three outings to date and displayed a tendency to race freely.
That said, she's a half-sister to the Listed-placed Yonafis and certainly bred to be better than her opening mark of 59, which doesn't look overly stiff based on the effort that saw her beaten just less than six lengths when fifth in a Yarmouth maiden second time out.
Whilst switching to a low-grade nursery is an obvious plus, it's the addition of first-time blinkers that really add interest. There's no doubt that she'll need to settle better in order to be competitive in any form of race but if doing so in the first-time headgear, then surely this rating of 59 isn't beyond her.
1pt Win – Stay Sharp
Odds – 14/1
We head to Ireland for our final selection, where the Paddy Twomey-trained La Isle Mujeres is taken to make up for lost time in the feature Oyster Stakes (Listed) at Galway this evening (6.35).
The Moyglare Stud-owned five-year-old looked progressive last season, comfortably landing a Listed event at Roscommon before struggling in the same class when encountering a quicker surface at Cork a month later.
Trainer Paddy Twomey made it no secret that following that Cork effort, she would never race on a surface so quick again, so it's no shock that she hasn't been seen since finishing an excellent runner-up to Joseph O'Brien's rock-solid mare Goodie Two Shoes at Down Royal in May.
The Jospeh O'Brien-trained mare has since gone on to score in Group 3 company before a creditable third-place finish in the Group 2 Lillie Langtry Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, while Dallas Star, who finished back in third at Down Royal, has since filled the runner-up spot in the Irish St Leger Trial at the Curragh.
Dropping back to a mile and a half this evening shouldn't pose any issues and with soft ground finally under her hooves, this improving daughter of Lope De Vega can begin to make up for lost time for leading connections.
1pt Win - La Isle Mujeres
Odds – 11/4
